A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested by the police for attempting to extort $100,000 from a local car service centre.
The suspect was arrested at around 11pm on Thursday night along Tanjong Katong Road.
The man had called and sent SMSes threatening to harass the customers of the service centre unless he was paid $100,000.
The manager of the service centre lodged a report with the police at about 1pm on Thursday, which led to the suspect's arrest later at night.
The mobile phone used to send the threatening messages was seized as a case exhibit.
The man will be charged in court on Saturday. For putting a person in fear in order to commit extortion, under Section 385 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, he can be sentenced to an imprisonment term between two to five years and with caning, if convicted.
No wonder nobody want to join police, so many idiots to arrest everyday.
Think the police force should have a branch called mental police, for catching mental cases like this.
They can go and catch the idiotic Bear as their first priority, not the one in the zoo, the one in sgforums.
