TWO more youths have been arrested for the Downtown East killing in October, bringing the total to 11.
The pair were arrested on Wednesday, more than a month after 19-year-old polytechnic student Darren Ng Wei Jie was chased and slashed by chopper-wielding youths.
He died later in hospital. Nine others have already been charged in connection with the death.
In the new arrests, a 19-year-old was nabbed with the assistance of the Johor Baru, after a warrant of arrest was executed against him in Malaysia police. He was detained at the JB checkpoint on the way back to Singapore. The other, a 20-year-old, was arrested in Singapore.
If found guilty, they face the death penalty.
Criminal lawyer Shashi Nathan said that while it was unusual for such a large number of people to be charged with the murder of one person, it was not unheard of, especially in incidences of rioting.

Why are they only arresting the gang members that attack darren?
How come not darren friends that were involved as well in the confrontation?
Only those that attack got fault meh? The one who provoke no fault?

darren gang damn easy to catch one layou go watch razor tv, the friends that attended the wake.

think this case not many remembered leback in 1963, Pulau Senang then a detention centre was hit by a prisoner gang mob incident tat got prison guards killed.

Taking a page out of the Battle Royale playbook, I propose we dump all 11 of them in separate locations on a remote island, arm each of them with a some type of lethal weapon, and tell them only one gets to leave the island alive. -

Those friends out there (who are somehow related to 11 of them), dont assume they now ok and free.
They kill someone, they have to pay for their life if found guilty.

we relly need one good execution in singapore on gang -wannabe activities.
show also alot of families out ther ereally comes example from their parents relatives and friends.
singapore first world as shown by ah peh but look at what the people becum? that's why i don;t like travel to other countries but seeing sg here in the heartlands also like that!
we must show more scenes of cannings and also haing in action. i will luv to see them suffer. also death penalty is the way to bring such people off the streets forever. believe me reformation is not effective on some of them. you see in reform centres on their performances and reactions you will know. these people has to be taken off the streets for good ifnot they will only cause hurt to more innocents if possible in future.
darrens's assailants and darren demised friends all must be probed into. directly involved one shall hang. indirectly shall be colsely monitored if not put behind to count bars.
parents should note to educate their children. now life's hard and i am sure our floor traps policies is also taking effect and toil on our employment, sgrea has to work no extra hard or wisely but stupidly to complete with theose foreign labor, as a result no time for chewren so chewren goes astray. see what many impact opening our arses so big to foreign workers has beecum?

Should hang the whole lot of them who are involved in killing darren...as for those who goes around beating up people should just give them a minimum sentence of 10 years and 24 strokes of cane...guarantee make kids nowadays think twice before committing crime...

Not necessarily agree with the punishment suggested by maxsee
But I do agree with maxsee that need to do something to make the kids nowadays think twice before committing crime. So many of them don't think it's a big deal to commit crimes. And even if they get caught, the punishment is so lax that many of them don't care.
