Some folks have a less enlightened view thinking that politics doesn't affect their daily lives and it's individuals that should accept total responsibility for their actions.
Cause and effect; every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
Policies set by the government sets the social norms in which we live by, censorship for one and the lack of parental supervision due to both parents working.
I have been to China 4 times this year, some of my relative's wife are proper housewife looking after kids, not two working parents.
It's this rat race that the PAP government force upon, always emphasizing on GDP and growth, but what has all these GDP and growth led us to. More time for our kids? Working less hours? More money in your pockets?
Greed destroys humanity.

In America, where there are no proper gun control laws and a gun is available easily, it leads to higher incidence of crimes with firearms.
Should the government be blamed for it, making gun so easily accessible to the common folks, or should the individual be blamed for his actions.
Governmental policies sets the kind of society you live in, the amount of hours you work, the amount of hours you sleep, the amount of hours you spend with you kids, the kind of education the kid receives, the age you can retire and enjoy your life, etc.
I took the bus system while I was in China and was surprised to find that the large majority of commuters that would give up their seats to an elderly (even though they don't have any specially assigned seats or stickers to remind commuters). Although this happens in Singapore too, but it's less frequent than what I saw in China, sometimes when I take the MRT, I see folks pretending to sleep or sleeping on the specially assigned seats.

It going to get out of hand with the youngsters lately.

On the eve on the sentences, you mind, your body, your brain,your shit, your urine, your poos will not listen to you anymore, you will get mental punishment till they come and shackle you and bring you to the gallows. The feeling is worst than jumping jumping down the building, youngsters, you will get this treatment. Try hiding...try harder...police are coming and knocking on your doors anytime, any minutes and any seconds.

no code of honour....like the samurais lol. If one has to fight back because of a staring incident....that person probably felt threatened in some way. Maybe loss of self-esteem, fear or something like that.
Anyway, most of these so called gangsters are farking worms in a can. They only act tough and strong when in a group. It will never be a case of them being alone.
Not that I wanna be racist....but there are sensible and also brainless people from this race. The far east plaza incident involved them...and this time i bet you it's them too. The hooligans of this race tend to act tough only when they're in a group. Bunch of cowards and a laughing stock really. No prizes for guessing which race.

i think schools these days should make more camps for kids so they develop better character and have less time for shit -

pardon the race thing....it's just a personal experience. I leave it at that. Camps cannot do much......ultimately, it's the responsibility of parents.

The mentioned race here must be Chinese, especially when it is being discussed seriously like this.
If it is another race, then we will most likely see people making fun of the race of the concerned parties and making a joke out of their behaviour.
But the reason why we had such reactions is also because majority of the forumers here are Chinese.
It's in our blood to stand together to protect our race, but it's not in our blood to stand together to protect our nationality because Chinese is only 1/4 of the race in Singapore. Still got Malay, Indian, Eurasian.
Singaporeans won't feel the obligations and needs and loyalties because they only represent 1/4 of the identities involved since the creation of their country, Singapore.
