SINGAPORE: A
40-year-old man, who tried to flee on Sunday afternoon after stealing a
wallet from a female victim, did not get very far.
He was stopped
in his tracks by a public-spirited member of public.
The man
had snatched the 18-year-old woman's wallet from the table while she was
having lunch with her friend at a hawker centre at Margaret Drive.
However,
the act was observed by 40-year-old Mr Eng who was seated nearby.
Mr
Eng managed to detain the suspect after a short chase.
The
suspect will be charged on Tuesday in Court.
If convicted he
could be jailed for up to three years and fined.
