SINGAPORE: A
bear-like creature was spotted along Ulu Pandan on Monday morning.
The
strange scene was caught on an amateur video using a hand phone.
Eyewitness
Wilson Tay, a civil engineer, was driving home with his son when he
spotted "something strange".
He said his son took the video when
the creature was spotted near a dustbin.
By Mr Tay's
estimation, the bear was about the height of an average adult human
being.
It's as yet unclear whether the creature is for real.
In a media release, Wildlife Reserves Singapore said no bears had
been missing from its parks.
Wildlife Reserve Singapore manages
the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park and the upcoming River
Safari.
It added it was unable to verify yet, if the creature
was a real bear.

yes, when I think think of Singapore I think of danger.
typical 'monster' video...just out of focus enough/dark enough/shaky enough to not be able to determine what it is.
if its not a prank video ( there's a strong light source near the top of the bear causing loss of many details), if a true bear of this size gets real hungry they can attachkhumans, little kids are best food for them.
omg singapore is really no longer a safe place anymore. i feel like going back to reservist again. guns and soldiers will come intoplay in singapore one fine day.
also there are so many cases of people smuggling animals into singapore. for teh cases kena caught how many went undetected? no one knows. the cubbs abandon as they grow bigger will come into light one day. sure looks like a bear. hope its just someone in costume only.

I thought our Bear from SG Forum was spotted.
Looks like a Sun Bear to me... But it doesnt look like an escapee from the zoo since Ulu Pandan is like so far away from the Zoo / Night Safari....
Probably somebody has kept the bear illegal for years and decided to free it there....
The Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus), sometimes known as the Honey Bear, is a bear found primarily in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia.
The Sun Bear stands approximately 1.2 m (4 ft)or maybe larger in length, making it the smallest member in the bear (Ursidae) family. Males tend to be 10-45% larger than females;[2] the former normally weigh between 30 and 60 kg (66-132 lb), and the latter between 20 and 40 kg (44-88 lb).[3] The Sun Bear possesses sickle-shaped claws that are relatively light in weight. It has large paws with naked soles, probably to assist in climbing. Its inward-turned feet make the bear's walk pigeon toed, but it is an excellent climber. It has small, round ears and a stout snout. The tail is 1.2-2.8 inches (3-7 cm) long.[2] Despite its small size, the Sun Bear possesses a very long, slender tongue, ranging from 8 to 10 inches (20-25 cm) in length. The bear uses it to extract honey from beehives.[4]
Unlike other bears, the Sun Bear's fur is short and sleek. This adaptation is probably due to the lowland climates it inhabits. Dark black or
brown-black fur covers its body, except on the chest, where there is a
pale orange-yellow marking in the shape of a horseshoe. Similar colored fur can be found around the muzzle and the eyes. These distinctive markings give the Sun Bear its name.
The diet of the Sun Bear varies widely and includes small vertebrates, such as lizards, birds, and other mammals, in addition to fruits, eggs, termites, the young tips of palm trees, nests of bees, berries, sprouts, insects, roots, cocoa, and coconuts. Its powerful jaws can crack open nuts. Much of the Sun Bear's food must be detected using its keen sense of smell, as its sight is poor.
Adult Sun Bears have almost no predators except humans, due to their fierce reputation and formidable teeth.[5] Occasionally, they may be overwhelmed by tigers, or large reticulated pythons. Other possible predators include the leopard, the clouded leopard, and the Sun Bear's larger sympatric relative, the Asiatic Black Bear.[3] The bear's loose skin on its neck allows it to wriggle its body inside
its skin far enough to turn around and bite its attacker when grabbed.
The recent decline in the Sun Bear population can be largely attributed to the hunting of "nuisance bears" that destroy crops and widespread poaching driven by the market for their fur and for their bile, which is used in Chinese medicine.
Sometimes, Sun Bears are captured or bred to be domestic pets--a role for which they are considered desirable, due to their relatively inoffensive nature and small size in comparison with other bears.[6]
The IUCN reclassified the Sun Bear from "data deficient" to "vulnerable" status in 2007.[7]

okay seems funny but as i wrote its no joke. zoo and the specialist better work and confirm on the report if its a bear. don;t care if no bears exscape from zoo lah like i wrote the bear might be smuggled in as a cubb then abandon. its just one of the many possibilities. so many fugitives and floor traps come in those can get caught or escape undetected. same for animal illegal smuggle cases. these are wild animal still no matter how they come into contact with human as young. they still have their wold insistinct.
First, wild monkeys... then came wild pigs... then wild deers... now wild bears... next will be wild tigers and elephants... LOL...
Lets see if the next spotter spots a lion in lion city!

wish the rhinos will come too.
deers are sually harless. they herbivores. just their grace and speed endangers the traffic. monkeys human fault. feed and feed and watch them mate that's why they multiply. monkeys are omnivores and behaviours unpredictab;e. highly interligent notvery wise like humans. have wild instcincts and can attack huuman also. cheekopek by nature with a bit of human nature they also upskirt ladies. wild board soutskirt sg islands many. and usauly encountered by soliders na guys in training. that one i no scraed cost laast time bmt sergeants says sees one charging at you run if you can or affix bayonet and defend yourseves. rihnoceroes are also herbivores. but in deserts and wild they are good firefighters. but their strength and size and wild insinct you can just imagine what they can do in a small island like sg. however, firemen will feel the threat to their jobs if one were to escape.
Maybe someone cosplay as bear with a fetish for rubbish?
From the Pic,
it dont even look like a real bear...
which pic?
junyang one is extract from wiki. the screenshot from SS is from chanelnewasia. you should see the stomp video clearer. Really look like a bear. and i think the guys reported and upload sholnt be jokkers. the law awaits. and if its really one freak costumer that guy stand a chance of getting some sadation sleeping darts from the sharshooters from spca or zoo or armed personnel. don;t worry . sg has many sharpshooters, and many of them available after they return from sporting events.
