TEN people were arrested for operating, and gaming in, an illegal gambling den at a private condominium unit on Monday.
Police stormed the apartment located on Dunman Road at 10pm on Monday night, and arrested eight men and two women aged between 19 and 29 years.
During the four-hour operation, chips, poker cards and $800 in cash were also seized in the raid.
Investigations are ongoing, but preliminary investigations revealed that one of the men arrested had rented the unit specifically for gambling.
Anyone convicted of turning a place into an illegal gambling den may be punished with a maximum fine of $50,000 and imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years. Those found gambling in an illegal gambling den may face a fine of up to $5,000, imprisonment of up to 6 months or both.
