A PRISON vehicle carrying inmates broke down in a tunnel on the Central Expressway, causing a short traffic jam on Monday morning.
The hold-up eased once the prisoners were transferred to another vehicle and the broken-down one was cleared at about 10am.
The inmates were being driven to the Subordinate Courts at Havelock Road from Changi Prison.
The Singapore Prison Service confirmed that the breakdown occurred near the Cairnhill exit, and that an alternative vehicle was sent immediately.
It declined to comment on how many inmates were present at the time, or how they were escorted.
Fortunately Mas Selamat wasn't there.
Fortunately no one intend to make an escape or hold hostages.
A serious incident to be seriously investigated and procedures need to be evaluated and studied.
