A MAN has sued Singapore Pools for what he claims is his prize money of $930,000.
Mr John Berchmans alleges that he should have received $10,000 for each of his 93 Scratchit! cards which had three identical symbols in the game panel.
He filed the suit in the High Court in June but served the writ on the lottery operator only on Monday.
In court papers, he claimed that he had been induced to buy the cards based on representations made by Singapore Pools.
He alleged it was represented that so long as he had at least three identical numbers or symbols in the panel either horizontally, vertically or diagonally, he would automatically be entitled to the top prize of $10,000.
Mr Berchmans claimed that based on these representations, he went to a convenience store in Eunos and bought 93 Scratchit! cards.
His name sounds like a foreigner.
I think Spore Pools should sue this pea brain for being stupid instead

More like sg pools sue him until his pant drop.
They are satuatory board and they have the resources to employ the best lawyers to fight the case for them and the judge will definetly side the govt company.
So no prize for guessing who will the winner
Spore pools not a googdu company.
If you strikes, spore pool pay you money.
If you never strick, how to pay you money?
That man, a gooogdu so called talented foreigner living in spore.
Make sporean laugh only.
Common people against govt, definitely the govt wins. This is more so in a highly govt controlled country called Singapore.
He is probably a foreigner(from his name) so he don't know how sg legal system works.
i think it's a play of words...the rules didn't specify all the symbols must be in the same row, just 3 matching symbols will do... i believe this guy knows that but since there's no clarity in the rules he's just trying to make a point?
if he wins, then mai tu liao...... we all go buy scratch it! and cheong to Singapore Pools to claim prizes......
Hope he win the law suit.....
ha ha ha ha......
Quick, everybody mark the 6 numbers in the previous toto draw on your toto slips using your pencil and claim the first prize.
Remember to shade carefully and within the small boxes.
interesting case
"He alleged it was represented that so long as he had at least three identical numbers or symbols in the panel either horizontally, vertically or diagonally, he would automatically be entitled to the top prize of $10,000."
He got three same numbers or symbols in the card, but they are here and there, not in a straight line. So he thinks he is entitled to the $10,000 prize.
Its like buying $3.00 toto. And at every line of numbers got one number kena. So he go claim the jackpot price because he got all the wining numbers in one ticket.
Small print says the card is sold under the rules laid down by Singapore Pools(Private) Limited, a copy of which may be inspected at any Singapore Pools branch or authorised retailer and on their website.
Is he such a noob, that he is misled by the representations?
Does he even know how to fight a court case?
Because no lawyers will be dumb enough to take up this case no matter how much he pays them
