SINGAPORE: An Australian chef accused of punching a taxi driver in
the face has been given a conditional stern warning and a discharge not
amounting to an acquittal in a district court on Friday.
No reasons were given in court behind this turn of events.
Thirty-seven-year-old Richard Paul Davies had earlier been charged with
hitting Yeo Choi Wut at around 4am on February 20.
Davies, who was represented by lawyer, Chia Boon Teck looked relieved
when informed of the discharge.
If convicted, he could have been jailed up to two years, fined a maximum
of S$5,000 or both.
