A MALAYSIAN who allegedly accessed the computer network of integrated resort Marina Bay Sands six times in May was charged in court on Thursday.
Leslie Liew Cheong Wee, 35, is accused of computer misuse from a flat in Teck Whye Lane between May 9 and 12.
He is said to have knowingly caused a server to perform a function for securing a remote access without the authority of the Marina Bay Sands workstation computer between May 9 and 12.
It was reported earlier that MBS made a police report around the time on power disruption on its property. One of the blackouts occurred 20 minutes after midnight on May 12 which affected a small area of the gaming floor for about an hour. Backup power was activated.
Liew, a permanent resident here, was offered bail of $15,000. His passport has been impounded.
The case will be mentioned on Sept 30. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $50,000 or a jail term of up to seven years or to both.

stupid sia
if so clever can hack access control system, then should get someone to break in to steal all those money
The word hacker always stands out as a bad word for terrible people that perform unscrupulous keyboard strokes for ill gotten gain. A hacker could be someone that works for the any Mob, tricking stupid people out of their financial information, or eager and IT students practicing their newly learned skills on fat unprotected American computers.
