THE bloodied body of a dog was found in the void deck of an HDB block in Sengkang on Wednesday evening.
The dog, which appears to be a Pomeranian, is believed to have been bashed to death.
A preliminary examination by a vet called in by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) noted that the animal had head injuries consistent with trauma. Blood covered its muzzle and the inside of its ears.
Police said they had been alerted to the dog's body by a member of the public, who had spotted it lying motionless with its leash still attached. The floor around it was blood-spattered.
A spokesman from the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) told The Straits Times that a post-mortem is in progress, and that investigations into the identity of the owner are ongoing.
Although the animal is microchipped, the owner had not followed up the microchipping by registering the animal with the AVA.
so is there a way to locate the owner of the dog?

someone must have chipped the dog..
go to the pet shop which chipped the dog.. there should be records of who the dog was sold to..
Maybe the dog went lost, and someone came along and bashed it up.
Sad. Though I am not a dog lover, but this is sick and disgusting!
It's in today New Paper. The dog owner keep slamming the dog continuously against the floor till the dog died. Stupid thing is, people stood ard watching the dog yelp and die -.-
sad to say, u all shd look at how the chinese in china kill the dogs for food. There's a lot of animal abuse in the world.
I read in Chinese newspaper that this guy actually wanted to borrow a knife from the nearby coffeeshop before the dog was killed.
He wanted to stab the dog?
Ya. He wanted to borrow a knife. But the stall owner did not, cos thought it was a very strange request.
Did the dog bite him or what?
If not, why the guy so on until want to kill the dog this way?
whatever it is, i think he would probably tracked down now that it's in the newspapers..
and the guy would probably be shitting his pants now
I guess the owner did it.

I think that guy is abit sot in the head. People rather stand around than to save the dog cos scared he got some mental problem.
sad.
The owner must have played too much KOF that he wanted something to practise with
LAST Friday's report ("Dog beaten to death in Sengkang") on the pomeranian which was beaten to death prompts one haunting question: Why would anyone do such a thing to a dog which trusts him, a dog which happily lets him put a leash on it when going for a walk, a dog which is completely defenceless?
No one - human or animal - deserves to suffer and die in such way.
What saddens me more is that someone could have stopped the man from slamming the dog against the wall, but no one did so. Do they not realise that, by doing so, they are accomplices to the crime?
Besides cruelty to animals and apathy towards cruelty, it also shows the slow response of the police.
Also, the current punishment of animal abusers is way too lenient. Such people are a major menace to society; they do not deserve their freedom.

since he did it in front of a crowd he must be unstable.
the fact that he asked for a knife is enough warning not to interfere. or it'll be your life for the dog's. unless you are donnie yen.
If the writer was there, would she have stopped him? Stupid women.

THE recent death of a pomeranian that was repeatedly hurled against a wall by a man has galvanised animal lovers into action.
In a bid to ferret out who he is, a group of 11 animal lovers pledged more than $2,000 as a reward to bring the assailant to justice.
Now, in less than two weeks, the reward has gone up to $3,400 - which includes the $1,000 offered by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
The pomeranian was bashed to death and its bloodied body left at the void deck of a Housing Board block in Sengkang on Aug 19. Eyewitnesses said they had seen a man repeatedly hurling the dog against the wall. The man, however, has yet to be found.
The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) is investigating the incident, and said that no witnesses have come forward yet. Those found guilty of acts of animal cruelty can be fined up to $10,000 or jailed for up to 12 months, or both.
Although the dog had been microchipped, the owner did not register the animal with the AVA. A post-mortem conducted by the AVA showed that the animal suffered multiple skull fractures and severe brain haemorrhage - evidence of severe blunt force trauma to the head.
