IT WAS refreshing to read Wednesday's interview with Dr Suzanne Crowhurst Lennard ("Want a liveable city? Make it child-friendly first").
I especially liked how she placed priority on nurturing children to boost our quality of life.
The importance of appreciating nature and using it to its full potential cannot be over-emphasised. Our "cramped" environment needs to change.
The new economy needs innovative, adaptable and curious individuals. These skills have to be inculcated in our young. They need to have space, literally and figuratively. Despite our space constraints, we should consider investing in quality rather than quantity.
It would be good to consider Dr Lennard's views and not confuse "standard of living" with "liveability". Our priorities in life need to be reassessed.
