Shouldn't Toto jackpot be $10m?

THE coming Singapore Pools Toto draw on Friday carries prize money of $8.3 million.

The previous draw on Monday carried prize money of $3.3 million, and there was no Group 1 prize winner.

When this happens, the prize money would usually snowball to the following draw and escalate to about $5 million at least, because the numerous bets collected from punters from the previous draw would more than substantiate the increase in prize money.

It had been announced that this Friday's draw would be a special one carrying $5 million in prize money. So rightfully, shouldn't the prize money for this draw snowball by an additional $5 million, making it $10 million, rather than $8.3 million?

Why is there a discrepancy?

I recall they only have $10m jackpot during CNY. donno since when did they intro 1 Mid Autumn draw of $5m.

given that the last $3m draw, on one won, $8m draw seems resonable....However, I won't mind sharing with 7 other ppl if i'm that lucky

for $5, you can have combination of 1 system 7 (7 numbers) + 3 ordinary (6 numbers) or 7 ordinary. Just go say $3.50 and $1.50 or say $5 ordinary

critical because it is a gambling thing.. and Singapore Pools has rolled over the prize as 7-11 has explained..

along with all these, there are lots of other costs like hiring of the aunties to run the machines at the betting shops...

all these add up..

plus a profit margin for Singapore Pools (it is a business after all)

the $8m jackpot is reasonable...

but i guess the gambler always wants more, even if each row of 6 numbers has 1 in 8,145,060 chances of getting that jackpot

greedy little Vernon Sim. The question shouldn't be the potiential amount but whether you can hit the first prize or not. 10M share with 6 people, 8.3M share with 4 people or 3.3M you single winner? A lower prize money will have lesser punters thus increases your chance of a single winner.

It is an estimated amount of $8.3 million... Maybe too many people lost during the World Cup. No money buy Toto liao... LOL...

Anyway, did happen before that they estimated $1.5 million pool prize, ends up only $1.2 million pool prize.

If i am not wrong, 60% of the bet amount will become the pool prize, while Singapore Pools profits 40%....

So if its $10 million worth of bets... The pool prize is only $6 million.

So in this case, estimated $8.3 million means they expect to collect $13.8 million worth of Toto bets. Mean Singapore Pools profit $5.5 million instantly!!!!
