ORGANISATIONS looking to develop products for senior citizens can tap on the government's $10 million Silver Community Test Bed programme.
The funding boost came from the Government's third grant call for proposals.
The programme, which has been in place for two years, gives seed funding to companies and public agencies which want to test-bed assistive devices for the elderly.
Speaking at the event, Minister Lim Boon Heng, who is incharge of aging issues, said the Government is raising funding to respond to the rapid aging Singapore will face.
He noted that the number of seniors over 60 years will double from around 500,000 today to almost 900,000 in 10 years time.
'Hence we want to facilitate the development of technologies, products and services to meet the needs of the silver community in Singapore,' said Mr Lim.
Should try to develop low cost automatic riders for the elders who have weak legs or need to travel in wheelchairs so that the elders can still live an active live, not bound all days in the flats.
