SINGAPORE: Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Hwee Hua
says respect for each other's beliefs has to come from deep within every
Singaporean.
She said this on the sidelines of a community event, in response to
questions from reporters on the recent incidents involving religious
leaders who had made insensitive remarks on the beliefs of others.
Mrs Lim said this respect for the beliefs of others must be observed in
everything that is said and done.
She said there is a limit to what legislation can do, and added respect
for other religions will go a longer way than any form of legislation.
"We all have a responsibility to know and to understand and to act in a
very multi-religious and multi-racial society that we have here, in a
way that will not bring about tension, that will bring about
disagreement or even strife between different groups," said Mrs Lim.

and deep within it shall be - beginning with drawing the sacred line between religion and personal doings of any form;
that, the registered religious/ charity institutions shall adhere strictly only to legalized religious practices and communal activities for the betterment of the good society; with being non-profit as the sole and only objective.
What is legalised religious practice?
tell that to these pastors pls.
Have you all read this article? You all have to read this!
"AS A FORMER gangster and drug addict, Javez Tan Leong Whee knew he needed a steadying influence in his life but no matter how hard he tried, Taoism just didn't fit the bill.
............."
Wow.. that article is shocking. Having run-ins with the law and blaming religion for that ? Seriously...
For insurance agent Serene Tan Yan Noi, it was the practical and ready solutions she found in Christianity.
Since when did Christianity provided ready answers and solutions.
It found that the religious choices of young people were dependent more on the social aspects of the religion rather than its teachings and philosophies.
'Young people want to belong. They look for friendship rather than religious teachings,' she says.
Out of the load of BS inside, only this meaniful comment. Yes thats right, teachings and philosophies inside religion. You find wisdom in the teachings/bible/scriptures.

Not shallow, i think its true also. Its human nature that they want to feel belonged and part of a community, especially younger people, i dont blame them.
anxiety breeds desperation.

I dono, cant help it also. But the case here is not as serious compared to other countries like the US. People are breeded up in a specific religion, send to religious schools. Not much freedom in choosing what you believe, getting discriminated atheist and etc
