Couriers robbed of nearly $215k

WEARING ski masks to hide their identities, a gang of six men - one wielding a knife - ambushed two couriers and robbed them of RM500,000 (S$214,929).
They repeatedly punched one of the victims inside the 11th-storey flat in Dorset Road before fleeing down the staircase.
The robbery happened last Thursday at about 2am. The victims, two Malaysians, had intended to spend the night at the flat before delivering the money to moneychangers later that morning.
The gang - believed to be all Bangladeshis holding jobs in Singapore under valid work permits - had gotten wind that their victims were carrying huge amounts of cash and were waiting for them.
In a statement on Thursday, police said they rounded up five suspects, aged between 27 to 32, over the last two days.
The sixth suspect is still at large.

come on edo we really need so many spare labor, time for gahmen to send them back and further reduce unnneded passes to be issues. also companies hiring should have their proposals screened by mom.
gahmen should also write up new laws on punishments and penalties for foreign labors committing crimes hear. murder and armed robbery should be hanged. lesser petty theft with no one hurt should be sent immediate back to their country and banned from re-entry after spedning one day in our changi prison to clean toilets. in that way our prison toilets should at least be cleaned by some free FTs.

nte that jail may be overflooded and the money spend on housing them in jail comes from taxpayer. in jail inmates trained to get ready to return to singapore society but why should we help these FTs in jail? they don;t belong here. minor crimes just let them clean toilet a few weeks and send them back, murder, serious crimes just hang.

Agree. Don't need to feed foreign criminals, they don't belong here. Give them a few strokes and deport them.

If they want come SG work can, but be a good person la, work, go home, work, go home, take money and go back hometown i don't mind. But come our country kajiao kajiao, kns, make us very worry and make SPF more jobs.

we brought too many in without due thought to how can we damage control if they all run amok. taken to the extreme that's prolly enough of them to carry out a coup. scaryyyyy..... for now these crimes affect only the man on the street... if it spirals out of control and starts to affect the well-being of the upper class/policy makers....maybe something will be done then.

Why use courier to send money? and ringgit some more?
Use internet banking lah, cheaper and faster... unless it's dirty money sent to singapore to launder? and one gang knew about this dirty money and ambush the courier?

Recent spike in crimes is a worrying trend. Is it because the Authorities are not work hard enough or working too hard forcing the crooks to come out!?
