I HAVE been living in Jurong West Street 64 for five years. In the past six months, I have become increasingly irritated by the noise of military planes. This was especially so a week ago when the planes were still flying past at 11pm.
I know military training is important and that there are airspace constraints in Singapore. However, the concerns of residents cannot be ignored.
I have a five-month-old son and a three-year-old daughter and they are often awakened by the noise of the planes.
I believe the noise is generated by planes returning to the airbase and not by outbound planes. My guess is that the outbound planes might be flying over the Lim Chu Kang area, while the returning ones fly over our area.
Perhaps the relevant authorities could shed some light on this and on whether the planes could be re-routed? I also wonder if flying past at 11pm is allowed and if changes can be made to the timing.
Woo Mun Loong
Tengah should have been given the F-15SG to put his views in perspective.
must be a malaysian.....little does he know they would fly more and lower upon this article
I have been living in Jurong west street 72 for the past 20 over years. Yes I agree the noise can be very annoying but not every day they will fly.
Hi Mun Loong, I have been living in the West Coast area for about 10 years and have the exact feelings as you do. I have two children, 11 and 6, who are also awakened by the noise. The problem was not so serious in the past. Don't know what happened. I had also written to my MP but have yet received any responses. Do you have any good ideas how to make this issue better perceived?
i can tell u mindef does not give two hoots. They will craft a reply to tell you that they "understand your concern" but at the end of the day, that's still the route they take. To change flying routes involves a lot of admin and strategic issues, needs high level approval etc.
Pple have been complaining for years.
write an email to PM Lee then lol.
This is an indication that the SAF is rehearsing for the coming National Day parade.
I am also staying along West Coast and I too hear this terrible ear-splitting sound from above.
This usually happens around June and July.
why the hell will they want to fly at 11pm?
What they do in the morning and afternoon? Sleep in the morning and fly at night?
