WHY does the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal charge a levy of $10 per check-in of fishing rods exceeding 1.5m in length when it is compulsory to check in all fishing rods anyway?
This is ridiculous considering we still have to pick them up at the drop-off point near the jetty and carry them on board the ferry ourselves.
And among the three ferry companies providing ferry services to Tanjong Pinang in Indonesia, only Penguin Ferry Services allows cooler boxes to be checked in on board on the return trip.
Why the restriction by the other two companies? How do they expect us to bring our catch back?

WE REFER to Mr Ng Kim Liang's Forum Online letter yesterday, 'Exorbitant fee for checking in fishing rods'.
Our levy of $10 is for all checked-in odd-size packages that cannot be handcarried by passengers. There are fishing rods that can be dismantled and they can be carried on board without any charges to passengers.
As there are no unloading services at the destination, the ferry crew will hand the rods to the passengers on board for safekeeping.
As for the checking in of cooler boxes on the return trip, please refer this query to the respective terminal operator.
