  Don't let Balestier become like Geylang

  I REFER to last Wednesday's report, 'Geylang clean-up leads to vice in heartland', and agree with Holland-Bukit Timah GRC MP Christopher De Souza's suggestion to ban hotels from operating on an hourly rate in all residential areas.

  As a resident of Balestier, I am frustrated with the increasing number of KTV lounges and budget hotels in the area. Since the surge in such openings last year, my family and I have been often woken up in the wee hours by the sound of fighting. And it is unpleasant when men loiter around and gawk at women.

  Balestier is famous for its many great food stalls and heritage sites and I hope it will not deteriorate into a place where families will have to think twice about before visiting the area.

  You can ban hourly rate, they'll start following to go by day - rate.

  Thanks to the PAP government for letting in more foreign talents, every town in Singapore has the potential to turn into a vibrant Geylang.

  I think those men who are going to reach the CPF withdraw date needs to get their kuku cut off 1 year in advance so they won't be victimise by PRCs women.

  Ya Sextosa sounds like a brilliant idea. Like Singapore's own Batam paradise.

  too many budget hotels in balestier besides hotel81 like value etc etc. dunno why so many permits are given there when there are so many budget hotels there already.

  Balestier Road abt 2km long.. all the china ladies stand along roadside... have to take long time to view all... hehe

  Day rate will be expensive leh. If you think its not a factor. Why you never see chicken making business out Ris carlton?

  there is 2-3 shops lah.. not many...

  You how Long no go Balestier ????  Balestier Road = famously knowned for Pak-Ko-teh hangouts, now, Budgets hotels.... ( maybe got red latterns = lighting shops ) hehe...

  That's why... the thread title - Don't let Balestier to the Next Geylang...

  Too late... Balestier is destined to the s3x-cond geylang... with lots of Quickie Hotels..
