SINGAPORE : The licensee of the Geylang Serai Rojak Stall, Sheik
Allaudin Mohideen, was fined S$9,000 on Tuesday after pleading guilty to
the three charges against him.
One relates to him selling food unfit for human consumption under
Section 15 of the Sale of Food Act.
In addition, he faces two counts of failing to keep clean the fridge
tray as well as chopping board at the stall under the Environmental
Public Health (Food Hygiene) Regulations
If he fails to pay the fine, he will spend nine weeks in jail in
default.
Two people died after eating rojak from his stall at the former Geylang
Serai Temporary Market in April last year.
A verdict of misadventure was recorded against both deaths.

A $9,000 fine is a very lenient penalty, considering the consequences. Two people actually died!

some like poison.
he didn't mean it lah... please don't be so hard on him... it's like if your house window suddenly for no apparent reason, in a freak accident, it falls and kill a few people walking downstairs. it's different from a man take a knife out and assault and kill a few people.
Government is so smart. Always fine people and than the money goes to them and they use it to increase their own salary
He has been suspended for life by NEA. As he is 70 years old, it is time for him to retire from food business. After all his wife has been granted a licence to operate a rojak stall in Geylang and their 2 sons are running the business. At least now, his wife can bring the bread home.

Relieved, but unsure of future
<!-- by line -->
By Kimberly Spykerman & Mugilan RajasegeranFORMER rojak seller Sheik Allaudin Mohideen (left) said he was a relieved man yesterday after paying the $9,000 fine for hygiene violations. But his troubles are far from over.
He remains suspended and could still face possible sanctions from the National Environment Agency (NEA).
Under the law, the NEA can bar him from ever operating a food stall again, but whether it will do this remains to be seen.
Said an NEA spokesman: 'In light of the conviction, NEA will take into account the severity of the incident when we mete out the appropriate administrative penalties.'
Sheik Allaudin has been out of work since his licence was suspended in April last year after the food poisoning outbreak at the Geylang Serai temporary market.
Lol ? Future ? He should spend the future thinking how to keep himself clean.
