THE freedom and opportunity to express opposing views on matters of national importance is the bedrock on which a country can move forward at a healthy pace.
Singapore's success under the People's Action Party (PAP) is irrefutable. The important question to ask now is whether the PAP can move us forward to an even better Singapore under an adversarial scenario in which exchanges between the party and a worthy opponent in Parliament are the order of the day.
Recently, Singaporeans were asked to imagine a Singapore without the PAP. Similarly, Singaporeans should also be asked to imagine what it would be like without any opposition; not a single voice in Parliament to critique PAP policies, neither check nor balance.
Singaporeans are sophisticated enough to make the right choices. I doubt we can be led into believing that without the PAP, Singapore is doomed, or that it is the only political party with all the talent to help Singapore advance.

how about the 70s when there is no oppositions, not hard to imagine.
We are already living in a state without political opposition to PAP.
