It's not like you have a choice in purchasing a 3 room or 5 room HDB, they have income ceilings, if your gross montly household income exceeds $3,000, you are forced into buying bigger units, thereby incurring a higher debt with your level of income.
It's alot like walking into a restaurant, you want to eat plain porridge with salted eggs, but the restaurant manager tells you no, you have higher income, you must eat shark's fin and abalone.
PAP has a debt level for your particular income level.

Something like if you household income is $7k or $8k, you cannot buy hdb flats, you have to buy condo.
Left 1 option, buy resale flats, but then resales so expensive.
How? Hmmmm...dont buy. Stay at the existing flat under govt enbloc the hdb flats.
:)
really?you earn more than 7000 must live in condo?

I think so...there is a ceiling...but if you opt for resale flats, then it is ok. But not new hdb flats.
oh.thanks to give me the information.you live at?and how do you know?
no wonder more than 80 percent of singaporean live in flat, singapore average income is more than 8000,should all live in condo, but 60% of the singapore household below national average,so the rich one earn a lot so can pull to average,so singapore has second biggest gap between the poor and rich in all advanced country and area, first is hong kong.
