In Mr Sim book,he wrote,
In the US, when there is no sign on the road, it means that you can make a U-turn. When the authority do not want people to make U-turns, they will put up signs to tell you not to make U-turns.In Singapore, it is the reverse. When there is no sign on the road, you are not allowed to make U-turns. When the authority allow you to make U-turns, then they will put up signs to give you that right.
The two different systems serve the same purpose - to better manage the traffic.
They may look quite similar, just coming from different direction, but the social repercussion is significant.
In Singapore, the no U-turn without sign culture has permeated every level of our thinking and every segment of our life. This no U-turn has created a way of life that is based on rules. When there is a U-turn sign or when there is a rule, we can U-turn. When there is no sign, we cannot U-turn.
This is call No U-Turn Syndrome (NUTS).
In our HOME, What is Legal and what is illegal, we can't just simply based on logic, All depend on the AUTHORITY.
As a TD, For the Survival of our Love one, everyday OTR for 10~15 Hours, you can't just suka suka do what you want, just like our childhood our Papa / Mama told us, You can't don't this, you can'y do that or else Mata catch you.
We Treasure our TDVL, To us "when there is U Turn sign then we U Turn" For our family and Love one, we are all NUTS.

When you give flexibility in laws, it just take one to go nuts and the rest are history..

so basically in the USA .......everywhere can U-turn .
Accept those with non U-turn sign .

In Singapore , u cannot U-turn anywhere ....... once u got caught , then too bad .
So best is dun anyhow U-turn . Got sign then U-turn .
Just follow U-turn sign , nothing will go wrong .
but in Singapore , illegal u-turn we see so frequently , Police Car see also close two eyes , why ?
Cos there is no accident mah ....no complaints from other road users .

If I buy 4D from underground network and Singapore Pool, 2220 => $2 Big 12 Sml cost me $14. And this is Legal.
What's a NUTS.I need to pay additional 40% Just to be Legal.

Same like my house here ..... along KJE ....
Everyday 4am , surely a group of motorbikes running at at least 160km/hr from Woodlands to Tuas area .
No change one , once u heard the motor zroom sound , it's 4am .
4am liao , no police car , u can run 160km/hr , if no police .
But once accident and died , police will come and check why this guy are allowed to run at 160km/hr along KJE ?
But no people died , so TP never bother to come and check this area at 4am .

For 12 years coming 13 ........ i do lots of illegal u turns just to get a pax across the road .
I was never got caught before , cos i do it really carefully .
Once i did illegal U turn , a Police Patrol high beam at me , gave me a damn stare , and he drove on .
I guessed he from far saw i made a illegal u turn , but in a safe ways , he let me go .
But in the name of the law , it is wrong .

in Singapore , Bribery is wrong , big wrong .
But in China and Malaysia , or even Philipines or Indonesia , you better pay illegal money to the authorities , if u want to do anything , or will be damn difficult one .
Bribery is these countries is normal . Although illegal .
It's one way to get things done fast .

I summed it all up ....
Even if u did all thing legal in Singapore , it is not difficult to dig out those illegal stuff u did before , they want or not
One example , Like my underground friend i know from the time in army ....suspected of sellling drugs , suspected . Went to his house check ( with warrant ) .
Found no drugs ..... but found lots of Porn DVD .
He was no charge for selling drugs , but instead got charge for consuming of drugs from blood/urine test and possession of Uncensored DVD without license type of offense .

i like this topic
so, in US, the logic is....... you do what you want unless told not to. This give people bigger room to explore their imagnation, to venture. it will create great people that influence the world.
but, when come to grey area, the authority got difficulty to deal with people, the arguement point is also larger. Hence, there lesser control over people.
Properly, that is why, our smart leader, a former lawer, do not want to make thing difficult for his political career.
we are programe to.... do what is told, those that didn't tell, ask. or it may be illegal.
In this way, there are plenty of rooms for the authority to control, whenever there is a arguement, they got bigger space to twist and turn.
Each system benefit difference people. In Singapore, it benefit those educational smartie, play by rule, play safe, obedience and follow order type.
We, Taxi driver, most are belong to street smart type, play at the borderline, risk taker, adventurous and own mind set.
So, you know why smart people like you are Taxi Driver in Singapore?

And if govt allow illegal 4D, guess you and me may not be driving Taxis, and singapore can go chaotic, bo system liao..when govt do thing, usually they like to kill 2 to 3 birds at one go, this LKY culture, Kill you and yet can take money from you, then bury you nice nice for the world to see.
Last time i remember a TD collecting 4D, knn, seibei rich, drive taxis to do his business only, the tag is alway busy..

means No U-Turn.If none of the above sign, means road is too narrow for U-Turn, if you U-Turn and cannot made it in one try, you will kpkb the authority for putting the U-Turn sign there. So if there isn't any signs there means...........you think about it lor

Yes, yes, true, do not take things so seriously, especially at our mature age, what is wrong or right we all know as we knows all the geyland lorongs even with eyes close.
But the buzz word for TD is not really to move on, if can, move out.
