" I am 33 , a degree holder . Was having some trouble with some banks last year , and quit working due to lots of office politics , so went into driving as super relief for a while , and decided to OMO . Now i was thinking , am i wasting my time as a taxi driver ? "
"Many told me i am young , with degree , shouldn't be driving at all . Taxi no savings one "
" At the same time , my application for a BTO flat has been approved , flat coming , my wife earn $1800 monthly . "

I told him ..... pls get back to Corporate World at the age of 33 .
He is running out of time .
Taxi can come back and drive when old .
Once 35 , many might not want to employ him .

Hugh debt to clear? Most i know at this age or younger earn $1 but spend $1.20. But most will start to wake up after their responsibility gets heavier on their shoulder.

driving taxi as a career?
(A) Yes if mind set is fix and ready to do it for long term till retire and treat it like a job if the intake he get is enough for daily expense and some saving for future.(B) No if he still taking it as a temp job for time being and with the mind still thinking to get a better paid job.
In singapore lots of jobs sure got office poltiics just that one must learn to take it or find ways to handle it.

My office also a lot of politics...everywhere exist one its either you aware or not only. To use politics as reason is way off. im a SUPER RELIEF...need cash drive taxi...need to buy new gadgets...drive taxi....lotsa reasons wakakakaka
I wont give up my full time job for now even taxi may get me 200 cash profits daily cause there are no
a) Bonus 12th month
b) no profit sharing
c) no cpf deductions for my housing loans
d) no 14days mc per year
e)no 60days hospitalisation leave
f) To earn that 200 cash profits..i need to slogg 12 of maybe 14 hours to be lucky
g)14hours = backside pain = always need toilet
But i will still drive ...no one noes maybe when i reach 40yrs old...my boss decide to get a younger handsome dude then i kena kick out...at least got something to fall back on..

Please lah. What job in this world the salary is declining instead of increasing? You work any job smelly smelly got some increment. Drive taxi every year earning decrease. So what fare hike? Can keep up with inflation of operating cost? Rental? Diesel? Just compare TD of the 80s Meter $1-$1.20 jump $0.10 nia can stay private. No need go far. Ask our chief pool. 10 years ago taxi earn more or now?

What increment? For 4 to 5 years my pay was frozen and then finally I was managed out by FT boss. Just finished my taxi course and in my course there are quite a lot of young men in their early 30s. Most of them planning to drive taxi. I was surprised myself and they told me jobs are not forthcoming for them too despite their young age. As for myself, I'm already in my late late 40s.

Not advisable for TS to drive cab in his current situation.
Cos prior to take keys for his completed bto flat, will need to do another HLE again.
For self employed or sole proprietary, hdb will not only access income tax report, saving in the bank will be scrutinize too.

Of course 10 years ago i earned more ..... in the earlier part of driving a cab .I settled my bank loans , can afford two kids , moved to 5 room , eat good sleep good ...... can buy this can buy that .
Now must instalments from Courts if need a TV or Fridge .

Do yourself justice another 2 years , do for your mum and dad justice , if really cannot make it , in terms of salary , come back driving still can mah .....

If any Singapore men , haven't got married and haven't got any flats .....
I say better dun touch taxi .
Cos HDB dun give a smooth applications for self employed people .
They will need many criterias .
Got one friend drive taxi , HDB need to see $8000 in his bank account .
Then approved those loans .
HDB also one kind , those criterias they cannot one shot tell all ..... when my friend got what they asked , the next thing , always some last thing HDB need .
Jiak sai one HDB .

But once u are employed , with cpf and income tax reports .....
HDB will loan according to procedure .
So anyone out there who do not have a flat yet ..... u better dun touch taxi driving .

Yes in the early 1980s or late 70s driving taxi then was the GOLDEN PERIOD. An accountant resigned to drive taxi !!!!! that time no erp,bus lanes, cbd restrictions.
