Nothing irritates a rational experienced driver. But an experienced driver who is in a hurry, is a threat. Taxi Drivers in any country are the most experienced Drivers in that country. Any arguments so far?
Now we talk about speed limits. We taxi drivers have driven along the same route so many times that we can drive with our eyes closed (VERY EXPERIENCED). Based on our experience, we should reach home safely. ]
But if an accident were to happen! Will you Hit and Run! or stay there and face the music.
My point to fellow TDs' is invest in a GPS. A good GPS will even warn you when you when you are above the speed limit.
Why stay within the speed limit then?
My answer is Safety.
But No GPS can inform you if you are Drunk!
This one can tell whether you are drunk or not....Lol
Ya GPS in important. But use it to find a place ok. Use it to navigate you to the place better not. Cos sometimes will bring you go HOLLAND. Really no joke. Someone here from Tanglin Halt to Redhill MRT the GPS route can go pass Holland Road pass Botanic Gardens then into CTE tunnel.
I do not agree with TS .
We do not need a GPS to tell us we are speeding , which we shouldn't be speeding at all .
It's a habit we must cultivate , not engaged equipments to remind us .
Why in a hurry ?
Pax request ?
Worth it ? Your demerit points leh and your own money , do you know ?
Your pax are not going to pay for your fine .
U speed to grap the next pax ?
Worth it ?
For how much nia ?
$3.40 flag down ?
Plus maybe $3 city surcharge ?
Plus maybe 25% peak ?
Will that make you a millionaire sir ?
Or why must i invest in a GPS to tell me there's TP with camera infront ?
Waste money cos i rarely speed in small road . At 60km/hr limit stretch , my limit never exceeds +10km.hr , and that's my habit of driving in town .
I only speed +19km above speed limit at all expressways .
Cos my taximeter will ti-ti ti-ti at 117km/hr .
And if TP catch me for speeding , i will tell him to drive my cab and see if my cab can speed ?
It's a Driving Habit .
driving habits lor.............. juz stick to within or +10km/h of the speed limit
Good one bro Poolman and Komade.Although I'm just a relief driver to my Uncle I also abide by the not more than 10km plus limit.TP sometime close one eye but beware those civilian.I ever kena warning letter by TP going 92kmh on a 80kmh limit road. The one who tailgate and took down my speed is on a motorcycle equip with hidden cam leh

You mai talk cock lah. +10km/h when AP piang how can you fly from Jurong in 20mins? lol
+10km/h your cab engine chui must overhaul? German engine so lousy? lol
Komade saying small roads lah .....
Jurong To AP ..... he auto cruise 119/km.hr .
Small roads like those HDB roads , damn dangerous to even run at 70km/hr . Cos many cb kia ah beng ah lian walking see handphone one , cross roads see handphone one .
Riding bicycle ah tiong talk handphone while riding .
For your info ..... i never kena stopped for speeding from TP before in my life .
Night shift , never kena fine for speeding at normal roads .
Only day shift , kena one at Simei area .
Exceeding 20 km above speed limit , cos need to fly to pick up my son from child care that time 2006 .
The last time kena caught speeding was at KPE tunnel . Coming down to town .
Midnight , sleepy got caught at +20km/hr above speed limit .
we must cultivate it as a habit , cos everyday we are driving at least 6 hours on the road .
We need points , and money hard earn .
When one is experience enough , when reached certain road , the head will automatically navigate them to slow down .
Then hor , SilverCab taxi reached 117km/hr , will ti ti .... ti ti .... ti ti .....
That day i sit one sonata , exceed limit the voice will come out : Slow down exceed speed limit
knn phui
driving best is concentrate looking in front,
gps maybe a hazard if you always must look and check if it does warn you of speeding zone ahead
so i don't agree gps a safety measure, in fact this is not the purpose of it.
just drive safely is the way
Experienced Driver can speed ?
Then.... there are "many such drivers" on Singapore ROAD....U think that TDs are the "Most experienced drivers on the road" ?
Many TDs with 10yrs or more TD's experienced will tell you to keep within speed limits.
In any countries... there are Road regulations to abide.... Even Michael Schumacher needs to abide to the rules in the country he is in.
Who can argue that Formula One Racing drivers are not experienced ?

Lewis Hamilton has had some unwanted negative publicity after being caught speeding in France.
Although I can’t condone speeding, nor can I say ‘I’m holier than thou’ – I picked up a ticket of my own this year. Ironically enough I was returning from the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the time…
Hamilton is not alone – thousands of British motorists are ticketed for speeding every week. And F1 drivers from Jenson Button to Jean Alesi have had their collars felt by the long arm of the law. But some of them took it rather more seriously than others.
Actually GPS quite usefull. Some roads speed limit is 50. Some 60, etc. If you hit the limit for that particular road, it will sound an alarm. Staying within the speed limit is the best but sometimes we might speed without realising it.

Singapore also. Last time they will have LTA / Traffic police road block right out side Kallang during carpark race. Speed might be dangerous. But above it, there is stupidity, poor judgement and poor attitude. But these are hard to quantify to impose a punishment on it. So speeding is the only one quantifyable thus, over-rated as the main cause of road accidents.
