Then i analyse , why LTA and CDG instructors taught me that way ?
Becos pax everytime they take taxis , they know better than anyone's else !
We might be first time taking them from Pt A to Pt B , but for them , it could be everyday taking the same route !
Tio bo ?

Agreed.
And everytime they direct me to their destination, I say u also can be TD lor.
They will said they can only familiarise with their usual route so no use to be TD which some admire us as a TD need to know so many route. I just smile and thanx them for their appreciation.
Poolman is anti GPS
BJ is pro GPS
I've to agee with Poolman that you sometimes have to ask pax which way they want to take.
For the pax knows best if they are regular cab commuters.
I also started using a GPS on my 1st year but has since ditch it and using more of my brain
I also agree with BJ that GPS is a useful gadget but it's only a tool to help you on your journey. Although he swear by it, I would say end of the day, it is better to remember the landmarks and routes along the way.
I am never good with all those ulu places for I'm a city cab drivers. But I always ask pax if I'm unsure when I have to go.
So the argument can goes on but I hate it when pax ask if I don't have a GPS.
Btw my iPhone has 2 GPS app (Papago & TomTom) and I hardly use it.
I just told FT last night that I also don't know where is the McDonad's at West Coast Park.
I only went there once last year on a midnight trip from Ubi and back.
It was the pax who directed me there

Saturday evening bring your son there , i guarantee you your son will love it .
Dun ask why , any saturday evening around after 5pm u just bring them there ...
I sent my daughter there very frequently .
She called it Sand Playground .
Why ?
Just a big , really big play ground for children , some for teens .
I not really anti , base on each discretions and usefulness of GPS .
More like strong beliefs .
A believe that by not relying on GPS , by more on asking , will learn more , improve and faster
I ever tell all juniors , passengers is our best teacher .
Providing you want to open your golden mouth .
Freemanisa , he ever told me , knn GPS ?
At the pace we are driving , where got time to tu tu tu on our GPS ?
Drive also no time liao .
Yes i agree , we are on a high pace , fast on the roads , where got time slowly listen to GPS and drive ?
That day dunno if that chee bye lady driver on GPS , knn sekali filter lanes without signalling , i overtook her and looked at her , knnbccb sotong fucking face , dash board got GPS .
For those who use GPS , heart and eyes pls remain and focus on the road , heart cannot be on the GPS !!!
of course i need my smartphone for direction . Not on directory .
Now so frequent , pax got up , said : Driver , BrewWerks pls .
Hmm . . blueworks sir ?
yeah Brewwerks !
knn . .
"Sir , u know where it's the exact address , or any road names ?
" Nope , just brewwerks ."
"Okay spelling of blue works ? Blue Works ?"
"Nope , let me see my sms , B-R-E-W-W-E-R-K-S .
Goggol Search . . . brewwerks . . . here you go , Riverside Point .
"Let's go , got it ."
End trip , 100% extra money .

Ok lah. I press when I am waiting for red light. As long as we know agar agar the place just head towards the direction until we got time to tu tu tu the exact location on the GPS loh. But nowadays I also tu tu tu less on GPS. I tu tu tu my I4S faster. Just need one glance know where is the destination liao.

Siao si bo ?
Of all places, go all the way there from my home.
East Coast Park is a better option for me which I frequent
lets come to a conclusion la.
GPS is handy but dont be over reliant on it.
GPS does not make u remember routes and landmarks , imagine if 1 week 4 pax ask u to go tampines and u use GPS 4 times to bring u to destination? what have u learned? i can say nothing.
Mix route knowledge with a GPS on standby is the way to go.
For me, places like sengkang is really a pain to remember , so i use GPS to give me a rough indication . I dont need pin point accuracy , just agar agar is enough to get me there.

Ya lor just a toy .
Originally posted by JLKL:i me bo chap the gps, just hantum pie all the way..
Humtum pie all the way , straight correct leh ....
Blind chicken poke kena worm , like that , LOL .
My Tuas tip : Once reached Tuas Road , u are safe !
Then stop at Tuas Fire station outside some safe places .
Then politely tell pax : " Gimme a minute , let me find exact location ."
Then when u search the map , look out for Tuas Road , Tuas area all located right side of PIE after SPC petrol kiosk .
Do not rely on GPS , GPS might just as confusing , LOL .
Two question when Sengkang pax on board my cab , to them .
I will ask :
1 . Sengkang AnchorVale , Compassvale , Rivervale or Fervale ?
2 . KPE or AMK Ave 5
If Fernvale , KPE or CTE Yio Chu Kang ?
The rest no need worry .
I rarely worry about Sengkang , very hard to find to Sengkang paxes .
happen to me last week, at geylang girl pax say go north bridge road i ask near where male pax reply some "old name" knn gps where can key in "old name" so humtum from the start of north bridge road sure won't wrong. Anyway i forget where i throw my gps, any place donno just sms ah pool with the words SOS.
