The trends of TD had changed, alots of newbies today tends to go into OMO straight after getting TDVL, reason behind it can be
1. Get lured in by the insitution conducting the courses that can rebate them the course fees and so on.
2. With car prices sky rocketing, newbies may want to have a car to drive around at their own leisure time and a feel owning of it
3. The illusion that being young, together with better education and good time management ,discipline, he or she can make it as an OMO, and for some who worked as superior or skill work before, may think Driving taxis is sup sup water.
4. After passed the TDVL, the usual kanchiong mentality that allow other no option but straight to OMO.
My adivse is have a cool head, think it over, like other said, be a relief first, book for Cdg cab now, the waiting is 4 to 5months, meantime, drive as relief, learn and when later get the cab, you will know how to find and handle a relief as you experienced it before. Most important is the step by step learning, the routes, the meter, the paxs, things like diesel pumps and where got cococnut or durian drop, as you drive, you can learn. For Cdg, no need tuas lah, Tanjong Kling ping ping no stop liao

Im staying woodlands and when I get my taxi, I plan to only drive 12 hours a day and plan to find a relief to take over the rest of the time. So question is, how do I look for a relief and how much to charge him? Also I read in other threads on who pumps the diesel and it seem quite confusing for me. So can anyone tell me in detail what to do to after finding a relief? I understand I'm newbie so dun wish to be "eaten" up by the experienced relief.
Hi bro, I m new 2, interested 2b yr relief, private message me for my contact no.

Nope I'm not from 3011. Are u taking the evening classes?
Actually I'm fine with day or night shift. Alternate also can.
Im looking for someone whom can co-operate with me in this business and do well tgt.since u stay at wlds it will save ourselves time from ferrying each other while changing shift. I will pm u my contact number as well for discussion.
I used to drive SMRT. So my advice is take comfort. As pool mention, SMRT calls are super low, not say no call buy very low as compare to comfort whereby any place any time will hear mdt ping esecially at night.
And for pump issues, they have only 3 places in operation. Woodlands (ends at 7pm), AMK (ends at 7pm as well, re-start pump at 2-4am) and only kallang (24hrs) unlike comfort any time or location where you are able to find a pump. Waiting time at kallang is super long, sometime up to 20 cabs in front of you especially near handover time.
Mainly for these 2 reasons, i will switch to comfort if i decide to drive again :)

Hi HKoh,
No, I am in the full day/express (3 weeks) course.
Will check and reply your PM.
It seemed that my messages to newbies throughout these years has worked ! My messages still the same : Be a relief first .
But in this particular case , finding partnership inside this forum and within Woodland , if workable , not bad not bad .
Good idea to share those burden .
For me , OMO for newbies still not the correct path to go .
Originally posted by Poolman:If relief commit 7 days , it's fair u share the free rental and those perks given by taxi company .
Day driver's duty , nothing much , just sent for servicing .
Night relief duty is cleaning up interior and exterior of taxi before handover .
If night relief do not wash , pls pay $3 more for rental .
Than day relief sent for washing .
CHEVROLET EPICA Rental at $108 |
![]() |
.
|
12 rent-free days / year
|
.
|
$700 cash bonus / year
|
.
|
$350 performance rebates / year
|
.
|
Up to $1,825 loyalty discount / year |
bro, does that means:
$108 x 12 = $1296
$1296 + $700 + $350 + $1825 = $5817 / 365 = $15.9
there for relief daily rental = $108 - $16(round up) / 2
= $46?
After gst 108 is around $116.
No la.cannot calculate like that. Cos those bonus is provided rent continually for one year and NO Complains and ZERO accidents.

Anyone know the market practice for the calculation?

got work is good...
no turn back to drive cab hor...
maybe part time like aln can...
Too bad CityCab do away their temporary drivers scheme, I started TD with that, very good.
Minimum must book at least 3 days of driving, if over weekend must be continual.
So that time usually I book Monday morning collection, return Friday evening, skip weekend driving.
Rental according to the age of vehicles, during those time, Sonata still swimming, haven't born yet...the new companies also don know where yet, CityCab still operated by itself, Comfort still the biggest and yaya type. Jasmine(you guys idol) still with CityCab, my idol, Ms Lim, as usual, look pretty and full of perfumes smell.
I can say, very good scheme for newbies, except every week, drive different crown, until you yourself also become crown..hahaha
ideal rental split for transcab epica
[ (Rent + Car Wash + Season Parking) - Hirer Incentive - Relief Incentive] divide by 2...
[ ($115 x 30) + ($5 x 30) + $90 ]- $295 - $65 = $3240 for one month
divide by 30 days = $108 per day...
divide by 2 drivers = $54...
plus $5 back to nite shift (car wash money)
= $49 for nite shift
Everything else... eg: air fresherner... talkie bill... etc... divide by 2...
Off day cover each other...

If I take cdg, will me staying in woodlands be troublesome for me to pump diesel or do servicing?
I suggest u join cdg but prepare to wait at least 3 mths for a old sonata. Now sonata very easily can get relief. Old or new cab not important, can make $more important.
Diesel n servicing won't pose a problem for cdg taxi. last month i just throw key to my blue hirer n found a yellow hirer two days later. This citycab is maintained by ST located at corporation rd. It far from my place (amk) but i dun find it troublesome.

Do you believe , it's my idea ? The temporary driver's scheme ?
Nevermind , nobody believe .
I email them that since they have so many used Crown not taken up , must well lease out temporarily .
Better that put there collect dust .
Then at Marymount they started there .
Nevermind . No need any credits .

Bro Poolman, if that brilliant idea came from you, I believe.
All these years, what have those 'school high high' had done, only layman like us can give CDG good ideas. Those 'Engine Near' (Bro Bowah say one), only good at sucking cock.
That day talk to this so call 'IT Engine Near', why keep on upgrade our MDT? Bo different leh. than they try to explain to you all the term, term, term...knn, take high high salary, nothing better to do is it?
Anyway, now CDG more willing to accept layman suggestion, of course they will do it their way so that top management can see their 'Engine Near' doing something, but as far as we are concern, most idea came from all the 'genius' Taxi Uncles.
