Lol, they are desperate for drivers now. Trying to fight off Grabcar. But if LTA says all drivers require TDVL, then all will go to waste - many underaged, ex-convicts, banned ex-TDs will drop out.
Interesting to watch how this will evolve. Meanwhile, I think driving taxi is safer & more profitable but that may change with changing consumer habits.

If taxi biz become difficult, switch to trishaw. If legs are strong, get a rickshaw, go back to 1880-1930!!

Better rely less on GPS if possible

No GPS no call no cashless, nothing
also drive until like got dragon got tiger

For me, street pick up one, can put my tower over the MDT, dun even want to see it, but during peak hour, I open it, because my math failed, dunno how to add up the 25% + fare.

Is there a rule that driver routes must follow GPS? I heard can only don't follow if the passenger tell driver don't follow GPS.

Please do not be fool by 5000 guarantee fare. Less 20% and all expenses. You are left with 1500 and divide into 30 days is 50 buck a day for driving like dog. To be guaranteed you need to comply with the hours set by uber and if you drive that kind of hour using a taxi, you will be loaded very soon. Driving rental vehicle is 50 to 60 bucks day. Please remember if you make 300 bucks uber take 60 bucks again from you. So total 120 bucks (rental for a normal taxi) gone and you cannot pick road side, taxi stand and airport. And for goodness sake rental car use petrol while taxi use diesel and comfort is charging 0.82 cents a litre. So you can do your mathematics now. Driving taxi, if you dun feel like taking booking you can do street. Driving uber if you dun feel like taking call, time to call it a day. And I can let you know a lot of pax using app are blacklist by taxi company for no show or high cancellation rate. So they can never get a cab during peak hour. That's when they go for app booking. Uber pax expect to be treated like a king but they cannot afford to call a limo. So you drive uber x and serve pax like a king but being paid with peanuts. What for? Anyway sooner or later, LTA might regulate that taxi driver only can take booking from their company because individual company has their own quota to meet for booking, that's when you see the downslide for apps because they will not have another vehicle to meet the demand and pax will go back to taxi company.
