recently know of a new friend going to OTR and asked for my opinion to start with day or night shift.
seems there's a never ending pros and cons for each. however my stand was to advised him to build his confidence with day shift, as everything is more visible than driving at night, but of course with less extras and surcharges..
in summary this is what i feel...
DAY SHIFT
Pros
- more consistent demand for taxis on normal work weekdays, less the low key period between 10-11am.
Cons
- more traffic jams, road works and hot weather
- weekend crowds start later, u make less on weekends
- if its a weekday public holiday or long weekend, there can be less demand
NIGHT SHIFT
Pros - more surcharges and extras to make
- cooler weather, lesser traffic as it gets later
Cons - need to make more empty trips to town to get pax, more fuel used (justified by the extras u received)
- usually means more queueing at taxi stands for pax, unless u know where to find pax
- night drivers are more agressive, more reckless and pax snatching situation
Driving day or night good alots of good and bad, cannot say finish, therefore it is up the individual to decide for themselves, I am not worry about driving day or night, because as long as you drive for 8 hrs solid, you make money.
I am more focus on the demographic of the driver, age, gender, habits, routine, family and adaptivity.
Age, old age better drive day, if not end up in pool or staircase seibei sia sway
Gender, if female, of course drive day lah
Habits, can be anything, sleeping habit, sex habit,..all dependable on his or her body and liking
Routine, his or her usual routine in ife, if like me, at 4am need to find bak bak, then die die must drive night
Family, how the wife or husband look in it, how the childrens react
And finally, adaptation, how he think he most adapt to, if he use to work night, then night is no problem with him
and Lastly, health..how is his or her health condition, nite driving no body around one hor, call until lung comeout also no body hor

lol, must older aged driver choose day, i think body also cannot take late shift

u 0400hrs must sexercise already?

i know of TD, OMO, morning peak hour drive, break in the late am till 1500jrs or so, then resume all the way to the night. then start to stray after getting lobang from passengers who are 'workers' and almost cost his marriage..

actually night driving, as i mentioned is more fierce

OMO frankly speaking is not for taxi driving, even casket also got 3 reliefs playing around, TD are really long hrs working people, go out no sun, go back no sun, a sunless career with limited return.
Life is not long, get a good relief, share the perks, both be responsible on the cab, you can go on for life and yet enjoy a good life. Learn to pamper yourself and also learn to exercise and give yourself a break.

(1) night less speed cam/tp

(3) night neither pax or td cannot see each other face while on board,all dark dark lol <pick-send-collect $$-F off liao>
(4) weather v cool n can save on fuel bcoz aircon no need put high high plus after midnight travel less n queue more,traffic better after certain hrs
but those with eye sight problem pls drive day,especially older ones

i quit my old job which i had worked for 13yrs n now if u ask me go back to tat line,I cannot,dunno y lol

If want to be employed, than just put all your best to pursue it....
If want to be a TD, same same.....
Don't need to waste time, work full time and drive part time taxi....

some hide behind using hand phone, face looks spooky.
later some prepare to jump out of cab without paying, how?

Good or bad incidents, we can see them OTR everyday.. but how we take it is up to individuals.. For me, just let go and carry on with my driving.
Back to the topic, I think I saw you starting similar thread before… Bro Bond, still haven’t got your desirable ans har…lol
I’m reading up all the old post (even from previous forum) and trying to understand the history.. So maybe, I may need to tone down the way I post in this forum to avoid unnecessary conflicts..
