i keep hearing a lot of drivers discuss this topic both online and outside, mostly compare.
is this really the Number 1 important thing when starting to drive?
then whats the next important factor..and the next after that?
go n drive the blackie..

It's the business cost vs the business opportunity u can get.
eg, rent a 2 room HDB vs 2 room condo, do u need the facilities and if its convenient for u
If you say like this, sampan is still value for $. Only problem is can you tahan the engine noise, the seat comfort and looks ugly?
I think if you are not cut to be a small business man, then better dun drive taxi.
These days....
When rental is low, don't expect a good vehicle...
When rental is reasonably high, can expect a slightly better vehicle....
When rental is super high, knn, inside the vehicle, at least must have 7 computer chips...
If cost is not the no. 1 factor....... whatelse?
Passion? Passion to drive?
Rental is important cos if you are sick for example. A new Mercedes OMO will have to cover back his rental of 160++ if sick for a day. Say if he sick for 2 days he need to drive at least 480++ on the 3rd day he recover. Plus the fuel he need to drive 480 at least another 40++. Possible?
Listen to good brother hammer words. He learn his trade from the best sifu not some old trash talking nonsense.

Possible, why not, do u know $160++ is also on waiting list..this show that there are people who can do the impossible.

Alot of newbie also limo OMO. See they can tong how long. Also alot throw keys mah.
You can say that because you might had experience it, but to be frank, even at $160, still got taken, waiting list, formerly, normal cab at 90 and merc at 120+ already lot of kpkb cannot make it or impossible to drive ideology, today normal already surpass former limo cabs at 130++ and new merc at 160++, still on waiting list.
So, what is impossible?? in the context of singapore, I am not surprise that in 2 years time, it will be $200++ and still got taken and some jokers asking for it.
Let be frank, for the pass 10 years, Taxi trade had moved more than what it had done in the previous 30 to 40 years. This show you a fast pace situation Singapore is having, and it is still moving at that speed and faster. Even cars are now travelling at speed that can be hell in the 90s and 80s, such are the changes that one have to adapt and evolve.
That is why it is essential as I had alway remarked, if can, throw key and get a job that can upgrade you, accept changes, face changes as part of your life, because TD is like it or not, a vocation for the oldies like me and some other here. It is a stagnation trade, higher fares equal higher rental, a zero sum game between paxs and the taxi companies, TD get nothing, same return, same steering, same kind of paxs, and same fish soup at cambridge road.
So much so that we wish the young Singapore from the XYZ group to join in before foreigners or new citizens come into the picture, but to be fair to them, it is a full stop career, and in time to come, others moved on, and we still holding the steering. Unless Ah gong got some fortune left for you, TD will go down the pecking order of the society norm. With no way out for most, some turn to doing funny monkey business like my former chief. That is a fact.
TD is bestest when:
1. U r retired, no outstanding loans, children all grown up. Drive to earn some extra pocket money and get away from wife's nagging.
2. U have a full time job, drive part time on weekends to earn extra income.
When u have to drive full time to support family, pay house loan, pay medical bills, then it can be stressful. But, if u are able to live within ur means with some savings for rainy days, then being in control of your own destiny without pesky bosses breathing down your neck is one of the perks of a TD.
When u off engine and go home, u leave your work at the car park. Tomorrow is a new day. No datelines, no bringing ur work home and no bosses to call u in the middle of the night to chase for that report. Your sex life improves. Hahaha.
Taxi driving is even better when you have a great sifu to teach you and really best of the bests when your sifu is considered the king of tds. Because of my sifu, now I can earn extra $30-40 a day drive the same hours, sometimes even less. Ho sei liao ho jiak ho koon loh!
TaxiDriverKing u very tok kong leh. You are a freaking clone. If you claim 2nd, no1 will fight you for number 1 contender spot. :)
Thumbs up man.
Haha. I am an independent freak. Work by myself, for myself and with myself only. No owing any favour to anyone or any group. No free lunch in this world. Breaking up is sooooo painful.

I belong to point 2.
Other than earning more income, I want to get used to be a TD so that if I (suay suay) got retrench. then at least I can be a full time TD to support family...

You are right... But my best Sifu is always my passengers..
They sometimes teach me the route, tcss to entertain me. And the best part, they pay me at the end of the trip...
BTW, extra 30 or 40 a day can really make you so happy meh??
