Job nature no diff from any other self employed job, property agent, hawkers, etc
Hardly can make time for family or own time unless u make less or throw rental
seems TD are not protected by any MOM laws or guidelines
No work life balance to talk about
coy/LTA have a 250km requirement, u drive faithfully during weekdays, weekends also must ply. Rental runs daily rain or shine, good or poor pax ridership.
People work on weekend got 'weekend' pay rate.
day weekend only normal fares, night drivers got premium fares 7 days a week, best evenings on Fri and Sat..

You want social life, lai lai, tonite we go find bak bak ones, I taking after 6pm shift, by 12 oclock, can make more than $30, then got extra can go for social life.

When you hv decided to be a taxi driver, you must imagine that you had entered a monastery, like a monk, no more a life of what you use to have and then slowly you get enlightened on what Taxi driving is all about, it will be ok, instead of cursing here and there of no ending, take pride in your drive, and take paxs as part of your social activity, maybe you can be more happier and relax. -

Got benifits lah....Got own car to use(Cars are getting expensive now). Start work once step out of the house(Save time to travel if working for people and end of shift if heng heng still can get pax send you home). Anytime suka suka can rest(Can whack one day if next day want to rest or today heng heng meter never stop next day can shake leh). No need take leave(If got old folks like me need to bring them see doctor every month easy to arrange). No need to see boss face(Not applicable to CDG cos they have to tolerate pax if not tio complain). Everyday got money to take(Good for those who have alot of commitments once pay day pay finish bill few days later bo lui type, if need more money drive few more hours settle liao).
No CPF? Good mah.....use cash to pay for the house next time take back cash. Anything I miss out?

No bad habits, not even buying 4D...
I don't see why all this remarks came about...
Don't always use taxi to run personal errands...
Don't allow family members to disturb you unless is emergency, once start engine, must focus like working in office mah, until off engine, go home...
Pay rental promptly...
Once you overcome a thrend, slowly you will see profit start rolling in mah...
Ultimately you will found a suitable pattern to balance up between family and driving hour....

Instead of harping on the negatives, you should look at the positive aspects as some have mentioned here.
Property agent? No lah..talk until saliva dry, sometimes cannot close deal. TD, once pax hops in, money comes rolling in. TD as long as you are disciplined and hardworking sure can survive. You may not be a millionaire, but you will not starve. Property agents sometimes worry when the next meal will come. TD, as long as hand don't stop, mouth won't stop oso.
Hawker life oso difficult. Must do marketing, prepare food. Ppl oso choose to eat or not to eat your food. Taxi, as long as see LED green, start to flag already. Don't care blue, yellow, silver or red. New taxi or old taxi. Except for those driving black or white. Hehe.
In a sandwich class like us, with elderly parents and children to take care of, sometimes being a TD gives you the flexibility to manage all of these at the same time.
Most importantly, you alone decide what you want to be and how much you want to earn and not by some incompetent bosses.

And people are all the same, each cursing their own jobs, own way of life and own livinghood, everyone got their grievances. At the point of entering a job as a TD, most of us would had hold other jobs, same, curse here and there, and for you info, some rich going to die also cursed their life, cursed that the casket is not beautiful enough.
So, when can man be satisfy? never, you give him a bak bak girl, later he wants another one, and other people's wife or gfs is alway looking much better than his, neighbour cars or house look brighter, other family look more lovely and so on.
So, that a time and truly ask yourself, are you happy with taxi driving with a good family and lifestyle? Even if you said, not happy, then what else can make you happier, it endless, therefore, learn to enjoy the moment you have, because life is not long and most of us are way pass our mid, why be so stress on ourselve. Why make president, chief, rsm, csm, and smlj CO, aren't we long passed school days?
So, brothers, lai lai, lavender next week, we settle it once and for all, be a united drivers is alway much better than enemity. arbo, i open one table, dinner and drink on me....gum bo.
