The check and balance goes in way of if a taxi companies can show 3 months of 250km per day on the road for their cabs, LTA will not keep knocking on their doors, and Cdg had proven themselves to be able to follow the regulation consistently, therefore, Cdg drivers are not call or reminded about the 250km.
When i mentioned that 250km is the taxi companies responsibility to follow, it imply a whole fleet of their taxis total mileage per month divided by nos of taxis they have - all down time at service centres. This is what LTA is looking for, no the TD, but, as usual, taxis companies will push it down the throat of TD, especially those that cannot make it, or borderline cases.
As someone said, taxis companies are more interested in rental, how far you drive or dun drive is not an issue to them. But now with the LTA moving in on their turf, companies have no choice. And LTA is not going to be patience too long, SMART is one example that they took action, and when the whip is whipped, the 6 others need to be on their toes.
And please remember, 250km is the minimum, as time goes on, it will go up to 300km and maybe 350km.

Too many green taxi sign on the road is not just the 250km, in fact, it play the least on why so many cab on the road.
Taxi company expansion of fleets = increase in profit from rentals, fuel surcharges and other levies surcharges on paxs.
When we talk about expansion, it is not about restructing or re engineering, it is about making it bigger in fleet size, that mean, old crown, sonata, wish, magnetis, fit are all still around, and if you brought in newer fleet, it just add on. And that increases more cabs on the road.
The aging population, the middle ages today form the big chunck of Singaporeans, and most in this group are on the pivot of their life, many going thru mid life crisis, so the best solution and the easiest to take up, can taxi driving. With employers flavouring cheaper and younger FTs and FWs, what stood in between is a large pool of mid agers seeking a more self reliance kind of livinghood, and taxi driving provide that sense of belonging.

Of course hirer got upper hand to decide, but if relief are hard to find, or hirer is choosy, he can choose to remain OMO and enjoy the $ making himself.
relief can just wait till a more realistic and negotiable hirer to partner with. It's all about a win win situation
Good thing is OMO got vehicle to himself, OTOT, when to drive , when to rest, own decide. FREEDOM is what $ can't buy

250km requirement is a indirect approach to weed out those drivers that rent cabs as personal vehicle as well..
to max out the cab, push OMO into overdrive, cannot clock required mileage, get a partner, else get ready to be pok!

In desparation, relief can get exploited by Hirer, and the vice versa is true, if a hirer need me desparate, time to chop rental liao, if not, wait for christmas ar??

But with this kind of rental rate nowadays, very difficult to be OMO lor...
Although my lau kok kok merc also $123, but got G-jobs, corporate jobs, limo jobs to compensate...
Normal cab at rental $125-$135, may the god bless you with good health...

Ya loh...that time drive the $130 mercs already earn less then drive Wish and longer hours. Renault $134 also I tempted but hor the MDT buay hiang one, bo G job, SMLJ also bo. How to jalan? I rather take the little red chilli anytime cos meter at least jalan...tio bo Redxxx? Lol

If we still driving those lau kok kok merc, now sure jiak beh liao...
Don't know all my ex-limo kakis got big cannon or not...
All told me 5am start, 12pm can go home liao...
I'm talking about those $123 rental type...
But left few months for them to enjoy nia...
