I have seen 1 idiot post until like that before...
Its a criminal offense, but still can drive taxi le.
Many many years back, I was caught with 55cl, baned for 15 months, after ban, took all the exams to get my license again. One day reporting the lost of a bag inside my taxi, police told me, u have criminal offense.
I said cannot be, what offense is it. He said he cannot open my file without valid reason. I told him, its an official complain that police screw up my records, I am now complaining that police had mess up my records. so open it.
So he opened it, "drink driving"

I don't know exactly how they define criminal offence....
My record also very long....
Thanks for sharing your reply... what is the penalty for first time drink driving offence?
The penalty is severe. It is a non-compoundable offence.
First-timers if convicted will be fined between $1000 and $5000 jailed up to 6 months. For the second or subsequent convictions, a fine between $3000 and $10,000 and imprisonment up to a year will be imposed.
The court may also impose enhanced punishment of a fine up to $30,000 and imprisonment up to 3 years on a third time offender.
The offender will also be disqualified from driving for at least a year from the date of conviction or the date of completion of prison sentence, if any.
This would in effect, invalidate his driving licence. Therefore, if you want to drink, be merry but use public transport. Be safe and make the road safe for other road users.
Why drink and drive.... when u can smoke n fly
In Sg, as long you have file or involve in a police case before, the record will be life in your personal profile...
And of course any offence whether criminal or not will also be stick with you for life...
So when you tio spot check, 1st thing, mata will ask for ID, than radio back HQ to check profile....

Former Member of Parliament for Joo Chiat Chan Soo Sen was on Thursday disqualified from driving for a year and fined $2,000 for drink driving.
He was caught by mobile police after attending a charity event at 11.55pm on July 13. A breathalyser test revealed he had 50mg of alcohol per 100ml, over the legal limit of 35mg.
Mr Chan said he had "a moment of carelessness".
He could not get a taxi to the event, so he decided to drive. After the event, he also did not ask a car jockey to drive him home. He said organisers of the charity event had toasted him.
Now a part-time business consultant, Mr Chan was MP of Joo Chiat ward in the East Coast Group Representation Constituency from 1997 to 2001 and the Joo Chiat Single Member Constituency from 2001 to 2011 under the People's Action Party.
He said he will be taking public transport from now on. This is his first traffic offence in court in the 30 over years he has been driving.
More cabs on the way soon cos ex mp couldn't get a cab when he needs one ...
This is exactly what I said about media influence, let take a look what it gain from this news.
1. The PAP will said, look, we are impartial, we also go for the top of our own
2. Our Police force are impartial and work hard, even ex mp also they nab
3. Like you said, the excuse he gives will ultimately give the leeway for LTA to release more taxi quotas to the companies
This guy is for show
Drink driving is a criminal offence ,your endangering your own and others lives and it will show up on a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
