SINGAPORE: More London taxis are now available for those who need help getting around.
SMRT has put its second and final batch of 15 new vehicles on the roads.
SMRT's full fleet of 30 London taxis is fully operational. The first batch was released to their hirers in March.
The London taxis can accommodate passengers who use motorised and larger-than-normal wheelchairs.
The roll out of these London taxis received support from the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
MSF gave a S$3.1 million grant to cover Certificate of Entitlement (COE) and Additional Registration Fee (ARF) costs.

SMRT can reveal
1. how much they paid for each cab?
2. How much rental they charge each driver?
3. How does the grant benefit the commuters? Are fares cheaper for them?
As singaporeans like you and me starting to age, most of us will be facing an inverted population with more oldies than youngs, this increase is a must so as to be able to attend more and more oldies on wheel chair, and it will keep on increasing.
