haha. bowah, those are the few successful ones without much formal education. who dares to use these examples to train their own kids? Many grads are hiding as CEOs, CFOs, COOs.....these ppl dont want risk... the company gg bust soon, they jump ship.
grads also got successful ones. actually plenty. just that they succeed, its not surprising or worth mentioning.

That is why I said, education, especially Singapore education teaches people to be labourers than to be an entrepreneur, and input risk management in their education, coupled with social culture of kiasee and kiasu mentality, evolved a group of workers who do not dare to take risk. And even so, does not able to comprehend that failure is the begining of success.

Education is important, sure, it give us knowledge, but if you are not innovative and creative, education is just be said and done, and worst, if you do not apply or got no chance to apply what you are educated, then educate for fark?
You might had took geography, history, add math, physical science...and so on, and if you do not innovate it and apply it in yr daily work, what is the use? Our education is still very general in it approach and yet very strict on it grades and performances that bring about unnecessary stress, anxiety, alway want to win mentality, which is no good.
Grads when they graduate from Uni, apply at most 10% of what they have learnt. If you are an engineer, you study Fourier Transform or use Runge Kutta methods to solve differential equations. If you major in History, you study Revolutionary England and The Stuart Age.
Once you come out to work, you apply little or Zero of what you have learnt. Your character, attitude, command of the English language, ability to express yourself clearly, good public speaking skills and lots of luck are more important.
Yalor, then zero and bad character aside, somemore got what sex for grade lah, sex for contract lah, sex with underage lah, nabey from scholars to judges to principal, not even up to come near to our TD standard, me sex 2 better than them..phui x10000 time
at least we TD are more honest, happier and down to earth pples. Never go into sex for taxi fares ...lols

Aiyo, what I mean are those "famous people" lowly educated but make it in life type, later part will want to add title to "balance" themselves in this society...
But no matter what you said, education is still very important, whether or not is innovative or creative....
At least I'm telling my 2 children on this...
Education is important becos it impart knowledge, no doubt about it, but how you educate or get educated is a different stories.
Just quote you a country that produce milk, cheese, football and many other products of great need in the world, yet it is alway a slow and steady pace country, the land of windmill technology, Holland.
During my sailing years, I visited Holland, the education system for a child start from 8 to 14, they go thru basic education with no examination and ranking, failure is a norm, in it, they can play and learn all these years, at the end of 14 yo grade, they are then ask what they actually like, from here, they are then place on what they like and what was advice on them.
Let say a boy said he wants to be a banker because he like to play as a banker, so he become one, learn the trade, muster them in math, accounting, international banking system and so on. He is not going to learn more about science or history or languages which take away his time and effort, and not long, he become a banker, a professional, a specialist in banking, and anytime, a top FT in any country that employ him.
Ours education..u should know better. Stress, position and grade focus is not going to make a talent, and that is why, we are short of talents, so to speak by our govt, but the root of it, they ignored it and just get FTs to settle the problem
A lot of grads drive taxis now?
really?
I am a graduate. BSc (Sociology) from UOL...many TDs oso. Bowah has PhD in Sociology...hehe
Grads drive taxis push Non Grads to sweep roads push Non Educated out of job. Big political problem ahead...
more grads in the society, definitely more grads in most of the jobs...

Talking about housing ar?? I damn fedup.
How can govt put HDB, an essential housing for the citizens at the same level as open market force?? The prices is the highest increment in Singapore that set all cost of goods to go up and thereby set high inflation rate more than what was stated.
It had become a situation whereby even a young graduate cannot even afford to buy it without a few years of saving, not to mention those bread and butter man like us, who, pathetically are struggling day by day to put off the load and installment.
If the blacks are the former slave for america with whip and food, we are now technically, the modern slave of singapore, hunger for $$ to pay off high debts to a govt that created an intense no money, no talk society.
And that is why when we open our eyes only, we think of how to make $$ to survive, how to put better food on the table for our family and for a mere TD, how to cut lane, how to interview, how to Q, where to pick, or how to control a radio station and so on.
Saw this video clip, must share...
