Ruptured pipe causes taxi to get lodged in sinkhole

  A taxi got stuck in a pothole on Airport Boulevard at about 2pm on 27 June 2013. A Changi Airport Group spokesman said preliminary investigations showed the hole was due to a burst underground water pipe. Two out of three lanes were closed for repair works. No one was hurt.

  SINGAPORE - A taxi driver escaped unscathed after an underground water pipe ruptured, causing the road above to cave-in.

  Shin Min Daily News reported that the sink-hole measured 1m wide and 60cm deep.

  According to the Chinese evening paper Shin Min Daily News, the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon near the taxi stand at Changi Airport Terminal 1.

  The taxi was heading towards the taxi-stand when the road suddenly caved-in, causing the front right tyre to be lodged in the sink-hole, rendering it immobile.

  There were no damages to the taxi as it was travelling slowly when it approached the taxi-stand.

  The repair crew present at the scene told Shin Min Daily News that the taxi driver drove away from the scene to pick up passengers after it was extricated.

  Supply to the water pipe was halted immediately after the accident.

  A spokesperson from Changi Airport group said that two lanes were closed immediately after the accident occurred to facilitate repair works.

  Initial investigations by Changi Airport group pinpointed the cause of the sink-hole to a ruptured underground water pipe, resulting in the road to cave in. Personnel were immediately deployed by Changi Airport group to divert traffic.

  The two affected lanes have been reopened to traffic on Friday morning.

  First timer admit OF (own fault) is $1800, sign and fuck off.

  Why? because eng eng mah, no need to argue, no need to waste time, no need for further adminstration. Knn, one day seibei many many  accidents hor, some little bit kenna market auntie bag scratches also come..but come with a request...ask if got spare rear bumper or not, help leh.

  I also want rear bumper ley...tree branch drop on rear bumper and dented it...

  My friend told me this happen at Terminal 1 taxi queue outside main road...

  Queue half way suddenly sink down, hahaha...

  But tia gong after that TD still die die want to queue until main road leh...
