Is it legal to PARK taxi at a taxi stand?

  i see some TD no where to be seen, but vehicle, engine off, parked at stand

  actually it's against regulations,but sometimes high tide or worse stomachache,need to go toilet.so that's the fastest and convenient place to park!

  3 Demerit Points

  Fine : $100

  •

  Failing to surrender taxi vocational licence upon suspension or cancellation of

  licence

  •

  Hindering or obstructing other taxi drivers from picking up passengers

  •

  Failing, without reasonable cause, to proceed to destination named by a

  passenger by shortest and most direct route

  •

  Setting taximeter in motion before hiring

  •

  Failing to stop taximeter at end of hiring

  •

  Resetting taximeter during hiring

  •

  Attempting to overcharge

  •

  Verbally insulting, intimidating or harassing a passenger (other than in a

  sexual manner)

  •

  Taking up or setting down passenger at unauthorised place

  •

  Failing to drive into public stand from rear and into foremost adjacent vacant

  space thereat until reaching front of public stand

  •

  Wilfully obstructing, impeding or preventing other taxi drivers from stopping,

  parking or stationing their taxis at the public stand

  •

  Stopping, parking or stationing taxi at public stand when unable to let out taxi

  for hire

  •

  Obstructing Registrar or authorised officer in the exercise of his power and

  duty to examine taxi

  Whampoa hawker centre taxi stand famous for this,just a few meters away across the rd got carpark but they refuse to park,dunno what to say liao

  Parking your taxi and leaving it at the stand unattended.  As I see it, you could be charged for the following:

  1. Hindering or obstructing other taxi drivers from picking up passengers.

  2. Stopping, parking or stationing taxi at public stand when unable to let out taxi
  for hire.

  3. Wilfully obstructing, impeding or preventing other taxi drivers from stopping, parking or stationing their taxis at the public stand.

  Total : 9 Demerit Points, $300 fine.

  On top of that, you can be charged under the Road Traffic Act  for leaving your taxi unattended without reasonable cause or excuse.

  does it mean warden will open one eye, close one eye when TD do that as its LTA job to catch such offences?

  Last year, I went to appeal for traffic offence at LTA. There was a TD queue in front also come LTA to appeal, got summon because of parking his taxi at taxi stand, don't know if he appealed successful.

  TD in a way would have more leeway to give excuses that can be geninue truth or geninue faked, as for Pte car owner, the chances are lesser unless you can prove that you got a heartattack case or saving someone.

  In today context, owning a Pte car is a luxury, after spending so much for it COE and OMV + dealer's profit margin prices, parking at a Taxi stand could mean the owner is sweating on the monthly cost of the car.
