i think someone mentioned if using the "limousine cab" charge, it is closer to the price...
That one is like this...
for 1km $3.90
for the first 10km, every 400m (or part thereof) $0.30
after 10km, every 350m (or part thereof) $0.30
every 45s waiting time (or less) $0.30
so this works out to be
$3.90 (flag down & first 1km) + $6.75 (within first 10km) + $18.60 (rest of the distance)
= $29.25
compare to your receipt of $31.20, which is a difference of $1.95
this amounts to about 5mins of waiting or slow moving time.
which is reasonable if you have some traffic lights.
update:
what i am implying is that either you took a cab that is classified as "limousine cab", or the meter of the cab is mistakenly identified as one.
because even if it was the most expensive of the "normal cab", it can't chalked up that kind of bill.
and even if the cab is travelling slow at 30km/h, for that difference of $8.65, it has to cover 14.5km (29mins)...
then the cab has to cover the remaining 17.2km in 5mins (206km/h???) ... which seems impossible. -

Supposing both taxis are normal ones and the meter in the second taxi was indeed faulty. Just faulty, not tempered with.
Is the TD responsible and if LTA finds out, will he be suspended? According to the RTA, TDs are supposed to ensure taximeter in good working condition and display the fare correctly.

When meter jump at 22c per 400/350, it is normal condition
When it can jump at a faster rate, it is good condition
I would like to keep it at good condition, but...... how?

And most took it first time in their life, n to the locals, mostly are those never or seldom take taxis one, then suddenly found out that the Fares is more by only $1, they start avoid them, spread the news, then suddenly, my crown become popular again..lols

Once I got a colleague meter was faulty. He knew it, but since he didn't temper with it, he just carry on.
A few pax KPKB about the fares, eventually company call him up to go back immediately to fix it.
He remember he went through some puddles of water and thereafter magic happened.
magic last only about 3 days only

don't think everytime meter hiccup is good.
still remember soon after taking cab was fare hike.
smrt total cock up, some of the meters instead of going to new fare reverted to previous previous starting fare of 2.50
curse and swear, my relief didn't know, drive whole night. after my first fare dump back to depot.

Because in actual facts, there's really a different fare between normal and limo cab currently...
He might have self pwned himself, but who can be really blame for this instance is non other than CDG Premier Department...
Just put up a notice in newsapaper is not enough, they should do more to educate the public, limo drivers should be the ground man to inform commuters the different in fare, especially when they pick up pax on street hired...
But human being is selfish, what if whole Sg realised and start avoiding white like those blackies?...than people like komade will jiak lut liao...
And why that limo driver never educate that TS on the fare different when question?...
It should be given benefit of doubt to that TS, he might not really know about the changes of limo fare rate...
Even if he know about the fare changes, he is still stating a true fact on the different fare rate between normal and limo, which don't result in creating friction in the transport industry...
