A former polytechnic lecturer who was convicted of assaulting a taxi driver was sentenced to six weeks' jail on Monday.
David Mark Papkin, 48, an American and a Singapore permanent resident, was found guilty of striking Mr Leow Kok Hui, 43, with an umbrella and punching him at the traffic light junction of Dover Road and Dover Avenue on April 14, 2011. He has been released on $20,000 bail pending his appeal to the High Court.
When Mr Leow turned into Dover Road and stopped at the red light at the junction of Dover Road and Dover Avenue, Papkin suddenly alighted and struck the front passenger side of the windscreen with an umbrella before proceeding to walk away again. He still did not pay the fare。。。。。。。。。。。。

Must be like former CJ Yong Pung How. Appeal unsuccessful means harsher punishment. That time, very few dared to appeal and abuse the Courts' processes.
Many backlog cases were cleared expediently without people appealing and taking up the Courts' time. Of course, not everyone agreed with such methods. Some think that justice should be allowed to run its full course....Am I too academic here? hahaha...

His PR should be revoked, when govt preach that they will filter bad eggs and get good immigrant, it is time for them to take this crook out of the Singapore, if not, he will continue to breed hatre, ending up with psychological problem and mess with Singaporean again. The Todd case had already taken so much of our taxpayer money that even the law's Minister who is pay millions by us, have to intervene, if it is an ordinary Bowah death, guess nobody will give a damn.

Polytechnic now have many foreign students from those 3rd world country, why need FT to teach them?? knn today poly is like my last time Sex 2 level only. Ccb, when I work in the ship as contractor, these foreign poly graduates also cannot know what is SS and what is Cast Iron..all ali ba ba type

Normally, Senior lecturer fetch salary from 6k plus to 10k plus.U think its cheap ?
U think Singaporean not up to the jobs ??

Then the judgment should include beside weeks of jail, his PR will be revoked and he shall be sent back after serving his sentences at his own expense within 24hrs. Thereafter, he shall not be able to to enter the Singapore for a period of 3 years.Like this hor, citizens hear already also song mah
