I survive 2 mths as TD leow.
I still don't know my way around...
Alway use GPS....
Alway give discount because go long way.
Sometime forget to wait for total on MDT and charge pax without ERP.
My hand is see angmoh auto press busy.
My leg are wobbly, my back ache and my butt is sore.
I am no where near $7K...
I'll make more as a security guard.
I sweep only..
I have not q at AP yet..I don't Q at all.
I have not taken pax at shenton way yet..

take heart bro,i 1yr 4mths,still don,t know a lot of routes esp. Sengkang,Tuas and even Toa Payoh,sometimes go round and round lor 6!

only in jurong or bt batok, i dun use GPS. other than that, i'm blind. with GPS, i seldom make a wrong turn.... when i look at the GPS route and suspect got shorter path, i ask pax to choose.... i use GPS to gauge the fare and time to completion.
I use GPS to get out of some ulu places.
i also sweep only, take short queues at taxi stands, shopping centres....
pick at shenton way and orchard rd, only if i drop pax there.
my groin always ache....butt quite numb liao.

Hey bro, u r not alone . Like foolish-2000I'm 1.5 years and still blur in the west area. I still use GPS for certain areas too. And nowhere near $7k too. Sometimes if GPS says turn right, I will confirm with pax first. If pax says "yeah, turn right" then I turn. Else follow pax directions.
It takes time. U will slowly discover the shorter way to certain destinations. Some taught by nice pax, others self discovered. When i first started, i have to think for a while which route to take. Now almost auto. If really cannot think or not sure ask pax.
Dun think about how much more u can earn doing other jobs. Can be quite depressing and will affect your morale to drive. Just drive and sweep. If got call and confident to take, take it. End of day, if collection hit target, good. If more consider as bonus. Never hit, well theres always tomorrow.

sometimes ask pax which route, get them to guide u if u are not sure. gps as a back up. check gps is set to faster time(maybe more highways and some detours) or shorter distance (may end up with more traffic lights)

Not confident to take bookings? Airport queues are just getting longer and waiting time is also longer these days, its just another destination

Study maps during your free time, u can't always siam. as pax may want you to bring them there. always good to tell pax u are new, let them direct u.

Some roads when u come to a junction, both sides are the same road name, so good to ask pax

TD using GPS, after pax board onto the taxi and tell you destination, do you tell pax you going by GPS route, input GPS destination then start moving? What area you like to mount the gps?

I met one new td n he told me he kena f by ang moh for bring him sight seeing. the gps had sabo him. dun rely totally on gps, try to remember those routes by hard.

I have a partner. I was OMO for a month..those were dark day for me..driving non stop from 6am to almost 11 or midnight everyday...Took only 2 hrs break between those time.
TD is like everyday something new to learn.
Today, I learn not to take pax at AP departure hall. I did not know there cannot pick up pax and I have clean forgotten there is a taxi stand below.
Dropping a pax, this Ang Moh quickly got on. I was abt to move off when I got stopped by the Cisco there. He told me that the area cannot pick up pax and asked for my VL.
I told him I am really sorry and did not know this is a no pickup area..then he say, you know there is a Taxi Stand downstair right..I was like...shit..I just undercut other cabbies by taking up pax there.....

What area you like to mount the gps?
Mount on right lower corner.
I tell pax that I am going to use the GPS for navigation and is set to the fastest route. Most time, they will say nevermind..they will guide me.

Still learning...sometime know the location but don't know how to go there..
I have been looking at maps of the various neighbourhood..at the very least, need to know how to get on the highway..else very jiak lak...

I have a lot of prob with angmoh.
Run fare. Short change me because I use GPS (one angmoh told me I no standard use GPS so he will only pay half). One scream at me because I took a toilet break before I reach his booking destination (I am still early despite that).
....some say indian give trouble..I had when I first started out )coz dun understand their accent) but once I know their pattern..they are pity nice and tip well.

How you know the route seem longer if you never go the place before? How to estimate discount amt?
Choose shorter distance instead of fastest route in the GPS seems like better?
Why not just input the destination in GPS and start, instead of going into highway? I think also can input highway name and go into highway.

wah. your learning curve seems to be very steep leh.
i always use GPS.....but seldom need to give discounts leh.....
i always check with pax if they want short with lots of traffic lights or longer, smooth flow.
most actually wanted longer/smooth one.....

Sometime, I try not to rely on GPS too much then can remember the route better..esp those I hamtum by myself, I can remember..those just key into GPS..even thou go 2 or 3 times, still need to use GPS and ask pax.
For discount, I just give a $ or 2$ or round down the cent....few cent or a $ dun really matter but if really go long way..pax usually happy that you admit it and if you did not go long way..pax keep quiet, they also leave the cab happy.

I slow learner + road idiot + I used to cycle a lot so a lot of routing are cycling route and they dun work for driving..
I not cyclist who hog road hor.....I siam vehicle and keep left and dun run red light one.

So every trip you reselect GPS shorter distance or faster time according to the pax? Reselect every trip seems quite waste time on GPS before start moving.

try to not use GPS all the time ba ... not really good to improve road knowledge...
Usually when I not sure of location, i use GPS to pin point the destination then agar agar drive there.
