yeah , u finally found the magical phrase of being a cabby : " Work Smart , not work hard ! "
In fact , all professions require this basic mentallity : " Work Smart ! "
You call your own shot in any professions or jobs or business. I being thru all the learning curves of work and self employ. Work smart doesn't mean lazy but be more observant, analyze and onsitu decision. Cannot be yesman. Yesman - you koyak and bersek one day. Work smart also mean know how to be happy and relax and steal time out any time any where. I used to take on many cab rides and heard many groans from cabbies. Nevertheless, i also heard many positive praises and beauties poems about their cabby work. Very soon i will be myself a cabby and i will also go thru the learning curves.
me found a partner liao .... just past time basis .
Quite near my hse , a TransCab Toyota Wish .
My ex-partner recommend him to me , same car park .
But one year later , once my ex-partner scrap his Crown , and to a new Sonata , i will join him .
At the moment , i'll be gambling with a Red Wish . Hope it's not so unlucky to what the fortune-teller said . Anyway , if things were really bad , then i will stop .
I'll start work on Monday , but this chap let me try morning shift for Mon / Tuesday , wednesday them start night shift .
A real test for me . First time on a non-comfort .
today i was shock that he brought me to Defu Lane ( TransCab) , via KPE .
I thought CCK>KJE >BKE>SLE>TPE>Tampines Road was the right route , but KPE seemed the right way now ..... I mean PIE>KPE , exit TampinesRd .
Let me explain the conditons set by him and me , and the agreement we finalised .
Rental : $45 , usual $50 ( $5 as in benefits , in daily basis )
Other Benefit : yrly $500 NCB bonuses to share 50-50 .
No other free rental
He bear season parking
He was to subsidise me $30 when he is off for holiday , as in me OMO @$70 during his absence .
Before 3pm if i take extra off day , i need not subsidised him .
After 3pm , i need to pay him $20 .
Sunday offical off day .
Later we went Mandai , he brief me on topping up of CNG .
Quite easy ...
First at those self service top-up service point , press " Top-Up "
Then we proceed to CNG top up point , an attendant to fill up for you .
Upon completion , go back to the self service service point , pressed " Pay Cash " .
Payment of cash is a non-cash basis , but by something like a SMRT card .
Value Card Payment that is .
Value can be top-up by any credit card .
Any value .
pool, once you get on transcab. let us know your thoughts and comments. tell you frankly, as a pax myself, i am phobia to sit on transcab. I even once encounter a prc driver driving me from queenstown to tuas view circuit at around 9:00 a.m. in the morning. He don't know the road. even speak to me in chinese: "ni men xin jia bo ren, zhen xing ying, fa zhang de hen hao, zheng fu zuo de hen hao......". take me on a long route and even i show him my directory and map. he cannot even read it. I make a complaint to transcab and they call me back that they have verified with the driver and he is singaporean. He don't even know how to get onto AYE and then "tiger brewery" into tuas avenue 3. That incidents was 2 years back. He looks 40's but then i spoke singlish and hokkien he don't seems to understand. I suspect the hirer had being using a PRC relief illegally. No cabby license was display inside. Probably after my complaint, the hirer could have turn up to office and nothing happen.
Pool, probably you get a right choice for cng. Petrol and Diesel price will go up again and i think it will not sustain at the current level. Besides Mandai, can you also top up at others like Jalan buroh?
Jalan Buroh and Jurong Island CNG Kiosk were close due to below safety standard reasons .

Illegally usage of taxi drivers ? It wouldn't happen in Sgp .
regulation and penalty were severe . Any infringements against LTA standard regulations will be severly dealt with .
Imagine , to achieve below LTA regulated booking service standard , one company can be fined up to $2,000 per cab , what do u think the penalty will be if one using illegal unlicense taxi drivers ?
That PRC probably oready a Singapore , one that has been to Sgp for 10 years and above is already a pink nric holder , so he legally a Singapore Citizen .
U are just thinking about personal experience , in the bigger picture , taxi companies dare not take the risk of employing unlicense taxi driver when Sgp has got ample drivers ! It just not worth it .
some extra cng knowledge ...
Sgp currently only 2 Top Up kisoks .
One @ Mandai
The other @ Serangoon North .
By August , Toh Guan will have one operated by TransCab , which is World's Largest CNG refill centres @ 47 pumps , currently Thailand is the biggest @46 , hope my stats is rigtht .
Current ones both operated by Smart Energy .
CNG was sold at per kg , not litres .
Mandai sold $0.10 per kg cheaper compare to Serangoon North .
Serangoon by 11am , usually no more CNG .
So only 1 place to pump cng for most of all cng cars in SG. !
Well, i wouldn't mind if he is a "prc Singaporean". Fair! Most localize "prc Singaporean" are a nice lot. In fact i have many friends of this localize group. What pisses me off is that he go on a merry go round in that area and refuse to read the Street directory and cannot understand english or hokkien but only mandarin.
I believe Taxi company wouldn't dare to do it. Maybe the hirer is desperate. When they call for explanation, hirer turn up.
It's history.
no choice la ..... Taxi course oso got Chinese syllabus , that PRC passed , how he passed , that is not our problem , it's LTA's .
But i was surprised , not knowing how to speak simple English , he can qualify before taking the course .
To qualify for the course , if u take note : 1.Can read and write simply English .
My this hirer was a ex-hirer of CityCab Sonata .
he gave up for better benefits .
The toyota wish. The car is so tempting man. Prime also have it? I saw many but not red color in downtown Cityhall area, prowling without pax.
Can smart cng cab, prime, smrt cng cab pump at transcab cng pump stations? Or vice versa. Of course i am talking also on their own company rate.

Originally posted by RotaryEngine:teolk, you all can call me tan instead of Rotary. I just loved and missed the rotary engine technology. You are absolutely right. However it's good to learn from you people all the nitty gritty or otherwise one will tend to "chiong" like a Blur King. I prefer work smart than work hard.
I will pass the test. Thanks Teolk.
tan, don't mind me asking wat makes u decide to take up taxi driving? juz curious...
teolk, getting personal leh..... that's what most taxi unker typical question while driving a pax leh.... i encounter many....
never mind tell you since i am also going to be taxi unker. Actually i deliberate since 1994 to take up part time taxi driving with many encouragement from my taxi circle friends those days. Now i go into it with 1001 reasons.
ONE main reason: FREEDOM -- freedom means you are not answerable to any boss except try to be nice to your PAX but don't kena complaint to LTA.
Recently i am very very free everyday... self employed and every damn thing is so slow. I need to get out on the road. I like driving and can drive on the otherside of the road for many hours without problem. I have always talk but no action to be a taxi driver. NOW the Action ! I know everyone is talking about the difficult situation with bad economy, bad time, not enough PAX etc..... but i am looking forward to it and taste it myself.
2nd Main Reason: Driving and enjoy the scenery and surroundings... discover new horizons......Take a breather......

yes , it's meant for every single CNG cars and taxis . Only diff , TransCab getting special concession pumping in their very own refilling centre .
Like normal non-transcab paid $1.43 per kg , TransCab Wish paid $0.10 cheaper , that's all .
