Cabbies , new cabbies especially ....
Got trick in driving a Crown by your taxi company ?
Indecisive to hire a automatic transmission taxi instead ?
Let me present a few points , why ? eg , a Hyundai Sonata , can earn more money than an Old Toyota Crown ?
1.Customers prefer fast ! Choose Sonata instead of a Crown .
2. Customers prefer quieter engines .
3.Customers prefer cooler aircon .
4.Customers prefer less stench inside taxi , old taxi has got old smells .
But one important factor , many might not aware ..... i take one example .
Time : 5 am , 2 different make , a Sonata and a Crown , both @ Terminal 3 Taxi stand .
Both took different customers , 2 diff.customers to same destination ... @ the same time ( same family ma for example )
Say to.... Jurong East Parc Oasis Condo .
I can say this , Sonata would take 10 minutes or earlier or to reach Parc Oasis than a Crown .
Same price , Sonata maybe $1 more .... shorter time taken to reach destination .
Scenario 2 : Upon reaching Parc Oasis eg , Sonata connected another customer to T3 ..... Crown yet to reach Parc Oasis ... Sonata already reached PIE Bt Timah Exit , then perhaps Crown touched down at Parc Oasis .
Meter ? Sonata might be $10 richer before the customer reached Airport !!! Cos he could at Bt Timah exit by the time Crown hit the condo .
Crown ? Still un-loading the luggages .
If the Crown accidently picked a customer to Airport again , like the Sonata , imagine where's the Sonata ???
Scenario 3 : Now the Sonata reached airport at 6am .... i believe the Crown stiill lagging at Kallang Way exit , midway still towards Airport , maximum i give the Crown at Bedok exit !!! At 6am .
Ratio ? Sonata 3 trips to Crown 2 trips .
Go and figure out customers per trip ratio , against $$$$ input .
Convince now why Sonata can earn $$$ than an old Crown ?
nice
Not to mention the stress of changing gears driving a crown.keep stepping the clutch really no joke esp in a jam-long run knee cap sure got problem
But what to do,like what Pool said most of us are being tricked into getting one...knn think liao also tulan
For this reason , Comfort stuck with over 1200 crowns in their back yard .
If i am comfort , i let go crown @$70 per day rental , 2 years contract , and a $2000 benefit upon completing 2 years contract .
Dunno what they thinking .
Poolman: I would agree with you that Sonata drives fast, but expensive though, I like Kia Magentis, but Crown oso quite fast shift up to gear 5, if the driver slams the gassy

Yeah up 5th gear , it's fast , anytime 110km/h , but the engine sound like it's go to be dismantle anytime soon .
And mind you , Crown when fast , takes a bigger braking distance , thus causing accident if too near vehicle in front .
Kia , same with hyundai , make $$$ than any manual taxis .
Hyundai 120km/h , it's like nothing , most drive until it exceeding 120km/h , still dunno .
Once midnight , 2am plus , from Boat Quay to wlands , then to Simei again , knn drive 130km/h until i dunno , solo on the road , drive happy , until a Subaru TP drove past me , gimme a damn look , then i know it's exceeding the speed .

For my many years of driving alway clean record. Never before kenna demerit or kenna and traffic fine. But driving Sonata diesel kenna once last year at Nicole Highway...95mph with fine of $150 and 6 demerit point, You lucky Subaru TP just drove past you.
Hot Spot Speed Camera my contribution...Alway at 1) Old Police Academy Thomson Road overheadbridge, 2) Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 overheadbridge Seagate Factory, 3) Expo overheadbrige Upper Changi Road, 4) New Bridge Road overheadbridge near Lim Chee Guan BBQ .... cant think of a hotter spot.

when i 1st use the 3rd generation GPS/MDT under the trial system , once i accelerate to 110km/h , the mdt will not only show a message , like : " Please slow down , speed is an offense ! "
Follow by 4 red bars at the top right hand corner ....once hit 4 red bars , meaning your vehicle is very fast , above 115km/h .
Then we feedback to the company , saying customer see liao we always kena scolded for speeding , which we didn't at all . ( cos the speed warning messages never go away , even if u are at 90 km/h ).
They eventually took out the messages .

ya ... once i drove a Huyndai Matrix up to KL , all the way from KL and back in 2 days ....
When reached S'pore , felt like Singaporean drive damn slow .

If they do, I will sign up. But I will be wearing ear protection.
but Comfort won't spent those money and would rather pass all to the shareholders ass .... they rather let the money goes into the drain then passing it to the cabby .
Read in a newspaper report some months ago, the cost of a Sonata is $68,000.
2years rental collection will take back cost of vehicle.
3rd year collection for workshop...
4th year for admin and support....
5th year for bonuses and shareholders....
Comments????

how can a diesel engine Sonata cost more than a petrol one ???
Petrol Sonata 2.4 only $50,000+ with COE ....
I think with bulk purchase , cost slightly near $30,000 .

Turbodiesels more tech than petrol engines. Usually costs more. Maybe OMV about $20k. Dunno what is the tax structure for taxis. Then add COE. Should be about $50k.
