Longer wait & fewer passengers

seems like taxidrivers don't earn as well as ever. It is quite often to see taxi stands with no passengers and there are long queues of taxis lining up waiting to pick up passengers.

maybe he needs to drive ard or wait at a different place (to save fuel). it shld be obvious to him tt there's no queue at the airport... why spend two hours waiting there? it's a waste of time... and those pple who really need cabs elsewhere can't get one...

times are bad lah... airport empty taxi q is quite a good barometer for taxi biz... u all got time and money, please take more of my cab hor

At about 3.15pm today senerio Shenton, Robinson,Cecil areas, Many paxs waiting for taxi at taxi stands but no taxi around, but what is the reason i still wondering, for me after alighting one pax at Robinson at around 3.15pm, than i kenna one on-call from DBS building taxi stand upon reaching saw about 8 to 10 paxs waiting for taxi, i zoom off with the on-call pax to OUB Plaza after that another connection trip to Pan Pacific marina, than another to Changi Airport T3. Those are just Reporter writeout gather information from some source but not everyday are the same perhap, but not all are correct informations. I, encounter today and can never be wrong. So media you know...

Possible longer wait .... what Kinwashi was stating , 3.15pm was the time when 1st shift are about to handover to the 2nd shift .... if i am changing shift , this hour would be my time i stick aorund my housing estate .
eg , i from CCK , if i at 2.30pm , pick one pax from Shenton to Woodlands , the last thing i want to do , is to rush down into city , pay $2.00 cbd charge , and pick one that maybe , sent me to Simei or Changi Village !!
Furthermore , i use to ask around cbd when i changing shift , but the regulation now forbid me to do that , but the rules allow me to ask outside cbd , why should i pay $2 cbd and cannot ask ?
I rather save my $2 and ask around people going back to west side .
It's the policy rather than other issues that caused the long wait .

What my experience before .... as one of the finest Financial District in the world , we have many foreigners that came from all over the world , to Singapore , to do business , investments or R&D , whatsoever ....
But now ?
Global bank crisis , where got ang-mo in CBD from oversea ?
Where got foreigners would want to come Singapore ?
All the while , Singaporeans are MRT travellers , taxi are meant for business from overseas and tourist , now ??
No business people , no tourist , taxi where got business ?
As i've said , it's time to revamp our taxi fare structure , go down , or taxi companies will suffer and more cabbies suffer .

Not that i how-lian .... i foreseen current's situation a few months back before i quit , my friends dun believe me , now they saw me , they can only say : " You're right to quit taxi ! "
A few months after 2008 began , I saw shenton way's ang-mo getting less , i saw shopping centres lesser tourists , i saw East Coast Sea food centre business dip , i pick less investor from overseas at the airport , i asked around some left-over expats , they explain to me they shifted camp all due to high rising housing cost , it's more than that i guessed .
Most people i picked from the airport , are people that came back from China , cos their business is there .
China , housing cost , rising in taxi population , caused me to imagine things , negatively .

I predict the worst is still coming. gd luck to all Taxi Bros n Sis. A....... Nowaday got many Taxi Aunty oso hor. luckily I got greet them. Be happy don worry.

Well... now with the crisis and rising cab fares... it's no wonder...
But still... it would be easier for us to get cabs then....

The past Fri and Sat taxi biz picked up a bit... month end effect... plus the midnite shopping and PC show effect.... good connection on Sat was to find pax in Woodland to boat quay at 1130pm... Hope can sustain till year end.... like pool said, need to earn my 13th mth taxi bonus in Nov and Dec... haha
