I think fleet size will remain at 13-14 buses. 3 more MANs will get upgraded to E500s.

* all of the above are man to E500 upgrade, not fleet add.
sekali they take another month for tree prunning, another month for personnel training and another for deciding which route to deploy and another month ......... until the cows come home

Like to be optimistic - hoping that next monday, already some smrt services get BSEP MAN --> E500 upgrade.

Should maximised up to 19 buses, 8 ADL, 11 MAN.
Where inbetween 2 MAN, there must be 1 ADL.

Why 1 ADL between 2 MAN? ADLs should be timed for BPJ peak load starting at 07.20am to 8.30 am - even with 10 minute frequency 8 ADLs can be easily deployed from BPJ Interchange starting at 07.20am.
MANs should do the slots before 07.20am and slots after 08.30am as these would not have as high loading as the earlier slots. Opp direction from Dhoby Ghaut to BPJ does not have high loading.
972 is some sort same like 190..uni direction.Am towards CBD Pm towards hometown. The loadings definitely not majority from 190 cause CCK/BPJ resident also on the rise.190,700,972 is the essential svc..I don't mind they introduce basic 971 also.See the SBST premium svc at CCK and BPJ?Also got good loadings

The number of HDB blocks coming up along Senja, Segar and Fajar Road.... 13MANS definitely cannot cope during the peaks hours.

But no more 13 MANs, already 10 MANs, 3 ADLs... soon by Sep, you will have 8 MANs, 6 ADLs... and may be by early next year, you will have 6 MANs and 8 ADLs.
BPJ Ring road also needs service to Sembawang via Woodlands, and in the other direction to Bukit Batok via Petir, Dairy Farm Rd, Upper Bukit Timah... Just one trunk service not enough.
A third service I will propose is from CCK Interchange via Ten Mile Junction to BPJ Ring road (loop here).

Idk if it's still happening now, but ADL will always bunch with the back bus. If you put 2 ADL back to back, isn't it better to put 1 ADL n 1 MAN tgt? [Afternoon - Evening]

I don't think they will put more ADL than MAN on 972. Don't forget 190 will be getting more ADLs(perhaps the entire replacement of bendy in the fleet + some slots converting bendy to SD)
But if they do, it's still a good choice.

Different right bro... 972 is BSEP... willl get buses from BSEP quota.. 190 will get 3 MAN BSEPs to ADLs but the bendies have to be replaced from SMRT side.

I would say you need to deploy DDs in the prime time for BPJ ring road.. no point deploying DDs after the AM peak is over... Putting a MAN, can still have MAN then DD behind, having the MAN packed with 70ppl and DD behind still under-utilized.
Scheduling needs to be done such that DDs are at a 10-12 minute time interval from each other to sweep off the prime time load. I think 88/161/168 are managing with back to back DDs well... with very less bunching.
Originally posted by carbikebus:190 might get 15 DDs for a start(bendy to DD) then add another 5 progressively
972 might get another 3 the mostAnd dont leave out that LTA will order another 50 more DDs to replace old bendies or fleet replacement.
See SMRT quite smart actually,They order in small quantities first in hope that LTA will fund other buses..Im not surprised if LTA decided to add another 60-70 A24s for feeders and short trunks
That being said, will LTA decide to put bendies on Townlinks 222/265/291/293/359? What about 238/243/334/410?

LTA will not buy any A24s. If they had to, they would have bought bendies when they placed such a huge order for Wrights for SBST. LTA does not like and approve bendy for the many reasons we have outlined before.
But LTA is okay with SMRT having bendies that it can ply on feeders/intra-towns. So it is upto SMRT to place more order for A24s. If SMRT feels comfortable with DDs, it might just order more DDs even for some longer feeder/intra town services.
Originally posted by carbikebus:SBST im sure they wont buy bendies la bro…beside LTA wanna reduce the number of bendies plying city and highly congested areas..The only WAB bendies will ply trunk svc in future is only 176,962 & 964.
and sv 67 too - needs bendies most.. unless roads are upgraded to ply DDs.

If it does happens, IMO, priority should be given to 222/268. Both have heavy turnovers at Bedok/AMK MRT stop, and 222 often got stuck at Bedok MRT stop due to the number alighting, then boarding. (Not sure about 268) Compared with other TL, 222/268 do both its unloading/loading at the same place (most TLs use alighting berth for unload, and own berths for loading). So it took up both space and time, which delays other services waiting to use those stops, which snowballs into everyone getting delayed. While bendies are longer and took up more space, they spend less time at the stop, which is vital, seeing the amount of services using thise stops.

Lets not talk about bendies v/s DDs...
I can only say both 222/268 are extremely bad option for bendies... Have you see the number of bus services calling at Bedok and AMK MRT stop? If more bendies start stopping there, you will have a queue of buses.. further increasing the time to load/unload.

67 will get upgraded to DDs soon because 960 is also getting DDs and could be sometime now.

176?????? The trees could be the next priority according to the SMRT news report, together with Ang Mo Kio Depot.

Looking forward to DDs on 67 and 176, if the trees are pruned in time.
