Were you on 'the newpaper' on yesterday's paper, page 40? cool! The pictures were taken at Zone X, junction 8.
Message from Zone X:
Zone X is organising a nationwide arcade competition as part of NTUC club's Up & 'Bout Singapore.
The Ultimate Arcade Challenge wil lbe held along with the XBox Challenge at DownTown East, as a two-day event this weekend.
Participants will pit their skills against each other in Initial D Version 2, Time Crisis 3 and Soul Calibur II.
So far, over 1,000 have signed up, paying $10 each towards the Courage Fund.
Zone X's assistant general manager Ang Gim Seng said he believes this is the largest local arcade competition ever.
The top players can win trips to Japan to attend the Japan Amusement Machinery Manufacturers Association (Jamma) show, the Tokyo Games show and Sega Joypolis (not open to the public).
They will also get $500 spending money for their trip there.

uhh.. these guys blew about $2,000 on the game each!
why didn't they all collectively pool the money, buy 2 of the machines and stash them somewhere, not open to public (so no need for license) and play to their hearts' content... -

uhh.. i'm talking about a band of about 20 fellas pooling their resources...
i think 20 x $2,000 = $40,000
more than enough for 2 machines (i hope)
stash them in someone's place which is big enough... 20 fellas can play until their eyes fall out of their sockets.. still sharing joy?
