  poor me.. I got an un-modded PS2... Still looking for someone who can mod the thing properly.. guess it's my fault in some way for getting the SCPH-10000

  Most probably, the Virtual Fighter 4 Evolution is for Japan only..

  Hmmm... played the VF series on my cousin's Sega Saturn last time but always preferred the Tekken Series.. he preferred the VF series until he played Tekken 3.. then he went and got himself a PSX...

  mine is SCPH-3006R. Original JAP PS2. Un-modded also.
  my PS2 be modified too??
  i heard that PS2 not stable to modify leh.
  my brother also said pirated PS2 Games can wobble when spinning in the machine. then it is most likely to hit the Lens of our PS2 and eventually the lens will be scratched.
  that is when the lens cannot read our game dics...

  I can hear my PS2 reading my pirated game disc quite loudly..
  I think the reason is that part of the dvd disc is scratched or the data is not copied properly to the pirated game disc. I am abit worried about the noise..

  There were a few people who complained about noise like what you and AhDan described in the PS2 mags.. it's due to the disc not being properly balanced.. for original games, it's a manufacturing defect and if you can show that other discs do not make the noise, the sellers are obligated to give you a new one which will not make the noise (at least in the US)
  
  the consequences of the rattling are, like AhDan said, a scratched lens, a scratched disc, or worse, a busted motor for the DVD drive
